The 6.5CM is not a necked down 308. That’d be the 260 Rem.

We’ve taken multiple moose & elk with 6.5mm cartridges. The 127LRX has been a great performer at short/medium ranges.

Correct ! And The 6.5 CM is a necked down 30 TC ! Just got a BUNCH more 127 LRX for my 6.5 CM and i am working up a load for my 6.5 PRC now . RJ

It isn’t really. The 6.5 Swede has more case capacity and is more powerful. 6.5cm is based on the 308 cartridge, similar to how the 243 is a necked down 308 case. When 6.5cm first started getting popular I remember thinking what’s the point of another sized-down 308, we already have a bunch of those available. I would basically say sure, if someone were willing to use something like 243 or 270 for moose or black bear then 6.5cm is more or less in the same class as those. My grandpa used to hunt moose with a 30-30 because it was what he had but if you already have a 308 or 30-06 why not use that?

6.5 cred seems to have about 200 fps more velocity across most bullet weights and is not quite equal to 270 but 6.5 prc has almost identical ballistics to 270

I prefer a rifle in 264 caliber instead of 6.5 mm but am sure the 6.5 will work just fine also.

I’m sure they’re good too, but I can’t really comment. I couldn’t get them to group well in my gun, but I might give em another go just to see now that I have some of the mechanical issues worked out with my 6.5-284.

The thing I’ve been wondering is what powder you’re going to put behind your barnes 127lrx in your 6.5 prc? I have some of these as well.

6.5 grendel has killed both, so has the 223. You're good.

Both animals have been taken with 22-250 so I would think a 6.5 would do the job.
Personally I prefer 7 mm or 6.5 PRC

The 6.5x55 Swede has probably taken as many moose(European Elk) as any chambering so I would say the caliber is capable BUT moose country is usually Grizzly country, at least in the north, so depending on where our plan to hunt it's capable of the moose, but as for the Gbear that may want your kill I personally like a tad more bullet. jmho
