Russian Mosin Nagant forum kaput??

Ross Rifle forum disappeared too. sad to see.
This one hurt for sure. There was a ton of good info there. Should have written a lot of it down, but she gone. I’m doing my own commercial line serial number database now, if anyone has numbers they would like to ad I’d really appreciate it. And I’m more than willing to share the list as well.

The Mosin Forum was run by Ted from Georgia a friend of mine. Ted is still alive but he lost interest in collecting, he closed the site and sold his collection through Empire Arms in Florida run by a mutual friend of ours Dennis Kroh. The three of us attended the big Tulsa Gun Show several times over the years. The fellow who died was Brent Snodgrass aka Tuco, he ran the Gunboard Forum with Vic Thomas. Both of them were also friends of mine.

Unfortunately, a lot of collector forums have either disappeared or are nearly dead.

The heyday of collecting milsurps with a very active community seems to have been from 2013-2018. Many things have changed since.

A lot of guys got old, politics changed, society, laws, economics, etc. The liberals really made a mess of Canada, and that has certainly contributed to the decline of shows, collecting, etc.

Just my 2 cents. Things might change for the better in the future, but I won't hold my breath. TIme will tell.

I think Vic is still around, but no longer affiliated with Gunboars since the sale. He sometimes still posts there, but not often.

Dennis is an interesting character for sure, he used to tour with a rock band and was also a major dealer in the ancient coin world.

A lot of regulars from former us niche collector boards are also now on milsurps.com, which is more of a serious collector venue and some of the alternatives.

Problem with all these sites, is they often fold when the owners retire or pass away, unfortunately.

Well, I guess that might be a fairly broad hint for me, because I'm getting up there too. I have tried to convince myself to start selling off my pile of "them old army rifles", some of which I have owned for many years. Some I shoot, some I don't. Not interested in hearing that "if I can't shoot a rifle, then I don't want it". Some of you will understand my methods. There are a growing number of younger people who are interested in the older military surplus rifles, be sure of that. I like to see them buying these old ones. I try to give them a decent deal when they come to my tables at gun shows.
