Yep.
I own both an FR-7 and one FR-8.
Recently my 300 Savage level handloads in the 7 grouped ok at 100. But I need to change the sites to match this formula.
Although, these same handloads in the 8 were rather dismal at 100.
But I tell you what, I end these shooting sessions with the FR-8 at 300 meters on steel gongs. It never disappoints from the rest.
7.62 Hirtenberger, always.

Same sights on both rifles for the above comment. I also have a 7 and 8 and love them, I haven't got them out as much as I'd like, I also have a Project FR-8 that I don't know if I'll ever actually finish, it was a POS when I got it, another member here took advantage of my extreme want of one and I didn't do my due diligence and ask for more questions and better photos, so i payed a premium for a junker.

Coming to the conclusion the 7 prefers the 300 Savage level handloads. After nine rounds of 7.62 Hirtenberger, the bolt manipulation became very stiff for opening.
However seemingly the 8 is, so far, trouble free and accurate as well. Just my opinion here, based on my two rifles recently.
Anyone else please feel free to interject based on personal experience.

So the FR7 is leisurely loads only. Not in this case but ppl. get say the post WW2 Mauser contract carbines and assume standard rifle loads give optimum performance. I wonder if the Mosin Nagant m44's had specific ammunition made for them while in service with all the Soviet aligned nations?

I think Fat Tony I am only just scratching the surface here. In reality I have only brought it to the range twice now. Also I think I should subject it to a deep cleaning. One thing I can say with somewhat confidence. Both the 7 & the 8 feed all live ammo fairly smoothly from the magazine.

It sounds promising. You are on your way to results. šŸ˜‰
