Is this a CRACK in my reciever?

I would return the rifle and buy a Marlin or Browning.

I already have a Winchester 9422, which is a nicer gun in quality of build for sure. They shoot about the same though. I actually wouldn't mind a Marlin 39A, the pistol grip is nice.

I did yesterday, and most posters think they look like cracks. No one has said their rifle has the same problem.

Just got a reply to my email with the pictures, and they want to replace the gun. I replied back saying I'm in Canada, so I can't simply send them the gun.

.223 sniper, here are the messages so you have all the info, and for anyone else. Basically they are 'polishing lines' that do not affect the function of the rifle according to Henry. I think because of the finish flaking they offered to replace/fix it. Being in Canada will make it a PITA to do so, so if I can live with it they offered to send some complimentary accessories. I opted for a Henry rifle case and brass barrel band. I will however continue to monitor the cracks/lines. One person on the Rimfire forum says they have the same thing.

ME - I was cleaning my rifle and found what I believe to be cracks in the reciever. They are located at the front of the opening for the lever, at the corners. I have pictures I can send you.

I assume you own a Henry Golden Boy. those are what we call polishing lines not cracks - they are right in front of the trigger area in the corners.

ME - Hello, are you sure they are just polishing lines? I have included pictures. They are right at the corners at the front end of the lever opening, one has some plating flaking off.

HENRY - Yes its the same but it shouldnt look like that with finish off. We have to replace your gun. Email me your name, street address and reminder to send you a UPS label to return the gun at our expense to get corrected.

ME - Okay, but I'm in Canada. Will that be a problem?

HENRY - Yes its a problem unfortunately. If you can live with the gun as is, the problem doesnt affect the function, I can send some comp items like gun case and scope mount to etc at no charge. Or we have to go to plan B -

They sure look like cracks. Maybe thats what the person was smoking when they replied to your email. Or maybe they are practicing some Jedi mind control thing.
