The Best Pump Action Shotgun In The World

Even though I've got multiple 870's and an 1100, I'd still go for the 1897 trench if I had to pick one pump action shotgun because:
1) you can attach a shotgun to a sword
2) it slamfires, and
3) it made people cry about the Hague convention
The winchester model 12 and Ithaca model 37 come second and third. 870's are fourth best on the list, tops, but that's debatable, and I actually like Remington firearms.
I was also going to comment, that the winchester 1897 should be the best. Has served in multiple wars. And still used in skeet and duck hunting.

I use an 870 LW special 20ga it is my favorite!

IMG_1809.jpegIMG_1802.jpegWe are all entitled to our opinion, but only one make/model was used in WWI, WWII, Korea, AND Vietnam - Winchester’s 1897. I had horseshoes up my a$$ when I found this one roughly 30 years ago. Authenticated as genuine, it saw action in at least the two world wars and possibly Korea and Vietnam and it still runs smoothly.

Very nice gun!!!

Renewed my admiration for the Ithaca 37 after encountering many weak ejector springs in the 870. I can turn a 37 sideways and eject an empty shell 20 feet.
The 97 is nice, but if you're not paying attention your thumb could find itself in some hurt.

win model 12 first place
2 nd place the 97
only because the model 12 is much smoother
and some education for the ones that don't know and are internet educated
the model 12 and the 97 have a tapered cone firing pin if it brakes it stays in the bolt and the gun will still fire
all others mentioned have a cylinder type firing pin when they break and they do they fly out the front of the bolt i have replaced many in my shop over the years you have a club
now you know the rest of the story

I've had a Mossberg 500A, 590S with ghost ring, Hp9-1 870 clone (a good one), a Sinisatti Turk box fed mag and had lots of short barrel Win pumps as camp guns.

My favourite is the 590S. I like the build quality, the ergos, the sights, MLoc forend, removable chokes and mainly the bayonet mount.

Because EVERY man needs at least one long gun tvat can mount a real bayonet............

I absolutely love my 14" AAC 870, although they did upgrade all the MIM and prone to failure parts on it but still, I truly love that shotgun. Slings and packs very well.
