I'm looking for a scope for a cz American I just bought in .22 wmr.
I was considering a scorpion scope but was wondering if they have gotten any better in recent years? (I've read some not great things about them)
Other than that I'm wondering if anyone has any good options for a quality scope shooting out to 100 yards on a budget.
Thanks!

They have not, still junk. I was at Heights Outdoors here in Winnipeg before the holidays and another customer walked in for his fourth replacement of a Scorpion scope. I know they are distributed out of Winnipeg but no idea where they come from.

For punching paper at 100 yards on a budget I would look at scopes from Vortex or Burris, personally. "Quality" scopes are made by LOW in Japan, but they aren't going to be cheap.

some swear on Hawke airgun scopes (most are rated all calibers)
I got one but didn't get to try it yet. it is for an airgun but I will test it on a 22LR as well

Scorpion Optics are Chinese made scopes. They have some "decent" optics in their higher tiers but their lower tiers are junk. Their only saving grace is their warranty which is no questions asked. My father has had the same one on the past 4 hunting rifles and it's treated him good with no issues.

Well, I had one on a CZ 455 17 HMR. It had a turret cap calebrated for 17 HMR. It was clear, but no parallax adjustment, and a basic crosshair reticle with no hatching for hold over or windage compensation. While accurate enough, I found that I was not getting the clean kills on ground hogs with this rifle that I came to expect so I sold the rifle and scope.

I would not buy one again. Great optics, tracked well, but lacking in options.

I went back to 6.5 x 55 for varmints and put a nice Riton 4-16 and could not be happier; I put another one on my bench rest rifle; a 6-24. Best value in scopes, loaded with features, perfect tracking.

Remember, particularly with the lower end Vortex, you are paying for the name. Riton is still trying to make a name for themselves.

"...quality scope shooting out to 100 yards on a budget..."

^Those two things don't go together...

But, if you're on a budget & considering you are putting this on a 22wmr, I would suggest getting a scope with an adjustable objective...

Right now you can get a Bushnell Trophy 4-12x40AO with the multi-x reticle for $157 from site sponsor NorthProSports...

I purchased a Scorpion Optics, excellent scope. They are made in Japan. The ones I have are great!
Scorpion scopes are not made in Japan, they are Chinese scopes that should be avoided. I had a couple, both went back for warranty replacement. I then sold the new in box ones to someone else.

I would not buy Scorpion Optics.......:(

I remember hearing that they changed ownership a couple years ago (I wanna say 2 or 3 years.) I believe they still sell the same lineup but have been adding and removing as they go along. Some of their newer higher end stuff is made in Japan I’ve been told. I also believe the “Teslon” brand is their newer better quality stuff.

I haven’t had any in my hands for at least 5 years so just posting what I’ve heard from others!

Vortex Crossfire 3-9 would be a great choice, in my opinion.
I had one on a 10/22 and it was great. Cost me less than $200, good quality and you'll never worry about knocking it around or breaking it. Buy once, cry once.

Vortex optics are easily affordable for anyone who shoots regularly and they offer many different price point options to suit your needs and budget too. All their optics offer a solid mix of quality/reliability vs price and with their unconditional warranty program, it's a no brainer for me on most (not all) of my guns.

Why would you want to go and pizz awf yer rifle?

Spend the $$ and buy a decent optic.
Heck, a good ‘Ol Weaver would be a better investment.

You know our time awn Ma Terre is limited.
Enjoy yer self. 🥨

I don’t know about scorpion but i second the referral for Burris and vortex. Excellent bang for the buck, never had any trouble with them, good clarity and they hold zero. I also know Burris honor their warranty - even though it was my fault that time.

Had a friend send his 10-22 home with me. Couldn’t hit anything with it. Took it all apart. Checked everything. Put a new scope base on. New rings. Still couldn’t get it sighted. Replaced the Scorpion scope and suddenly it was putting them all where it should. Pissed me off, because I know better…should have checked the scope first, but he told me it was brand new.
