Thomas Pidgeon

Don't forget, this is the guy who said, with a straight face, that the 30-06 was only good as a short range deer rifle. Oh, and remember the bow shot at the running caribou?

Didn't he switch out the bow due to distance in favour of a rifle, that he ended up missing the first shot by a country mile into the lake behind the Caribou? Different show??

Today's show was a rerun from the first or second season IIRC.

The shot on the caribou was strange as the bullet did hit something before it contacted the bull. It may have hit a willow or a juicy bug but I don't think it was a ricochet.

The shot on the moose was buck-fever pure and simple. He got excited and started throwing lead before he should have. I imagine he had plenty of time to review his "mistake" while they struggled getting that critter out of the slough.

The show today was one of his very first episodes and yes he shot the moose in very shallow water and then had to finish him in the deeper water. Whatever.

As far as the Cariboo with the bow, definitely a questionable shot but hey, maybe he practised it a hundred times, he was quite close. I have practised some with the bow on a moving target, not yet ready to try it in the field... but someday (I am talking small game)

I also heard lots of whining about his Eider hunt and the retrievabilty of his birds. Remember these shows are edited and you are only seeing the highlights so without asking him you can't make assumptions, also things are not as they appear on TV either.

Questionable??????????? Give your head a shake!!Surly you jest!!Take a closer look at it.:rolleyes:I would much rather he didn't take the shot and perhaps state why, rather than 'go for it' and miss by as much as he did. If you're a pro and doing it on national TV, do it right!! Jeez! And we wonder why an anti hunting sentiment exists.

I have never heard about not being allowed to shoot a moose while in the water here in Que. ( will have to look that one up) but I do know that if you have a boat, its not a problem at all to tow the moose to shore.

It is not illegal to shoot a moose that is swimming in the water in Saskatchewan. Not very smart though. I learned that the hard way. It IS illegal to use a motor to pursue a moose that is in the water here, and rightly so.

I didn't see that episode, just a short clip in a highlight reel. I'll watch it if it is ever broadcast again.

Seen this one last year. Yep sounded like opening day in southeast manitoba. Every year I hear this one ( maybe more) guy/'s at approx 8:30 in the morning shooting some cannon ( and it sounds like a cannon) approx 10 times in a row. You know it is almost like clock work. Never hear it again after that until the next year.

You notice he didnt' mention his "300 WSM" tag line after the third Shot and a Moose crashed in Several feet of water.

Could of been different situation if he could of made the first shot count.

I dont' think pigeon is any better than the average hunter, its just he has guides and cameras with him.

i watched a lot of episodes before i met him at a sportsmans show....

the guy is am arrogant tool and refuse to watch his show anymore. i expect hunting shows to have professional hunters, not rookies.

nobody is perfect but this guy is pathetic. you view the show in a whole different way after you hear how he talks to people off camera, including staff from the show.

I watch "What a Catch" instead, same time slot, different sattelite channel.
Kathyn Maroun, an Ontario-based lady (and very good looking, very competant ! ) fly angler. Inspiration for a Sunday morning :D
Her show is a long way from the typical "hook & bullet" stuff.
