So I decided to order one on black Friday sales. Finally arrived today. Very nice stock. I like how they made the rear anchor work. Use the bolt buffer pin as a hold, using a longer pin. The pin is a hard plastic. They have put two nylon dowls at the front hold down bolt. These are on each side, crush into place as stock is tightened. This is very solid mounting system. They did include more of the dowls with the extra spacers for stock. I'm excited to get out and shoot it. Rifle is Dlask reciever, rest of it all Kidd.

The stock I had on before was the Victor Titan. It's a good stock but the holding sytem on MDT is so much better. I do have the spike attachment on mine, deffinatly more solid but not like MDT is. MDT has a winner here.

I put my Tikka T1X in 17hmr with KRG bravo beside for pictures. Both stocks are nice. I do prefer the Bravo grip over MDT. This will be a personal preference. Both are good, I have big hands so the larger palm swell area on Bravo feels better.

That is a great review of the new MDT stock for the Ruger 10/22.

Thanks for the pictures, especially those that explain the rear hold down.

I am very happy with my Savage 110 in the MDT chassis and am quite sure that I will like the little Ruger in one too!

Have you ever used the Oryx in 10/22? Curious your opinion (or others who have used both) of the Oryx vs field stock rear hold down
I haven't used the Oryx. I know they use a clamping sytem to hold rear of reciever.

The bolt buffer pin idea is smart. I do have a SBI chassis as well that uses the bolt group pin through the chassis. Both are solid.

Maybe the only drawback to bolt buffer pin could be if bolt is hitting it. Maybe affect accuracy. Most upgrade to buffer pin are to make it absorbing. Person could always tap receiver at cleaning hole and attach to stock at same area. Stock already has bolt hold screw there. MDT could easily make a new piece up to do this.

As far as accuracy goes, will be a wait for me on that. Winter weather isn't my favorite shooting .

also interested in hearing how the new MDT stock will do with the Kidd/Dlask bits. this is pretty much a textbook case of what most of us would do looking for an accurate 10/22 build. I understand your decision to wait for warmer temps which is wise as I don't do any serious accuracy rimfire testing until the temp gets over 10 C. good luck, you should have a winner.

My wife uses the Orynx and it's very nice. The clamping system at the rear works fine. It is very much a PRS type setup. Very capable.

I use KRG Bravo and it's a better all around stock, particularly because of the lighter weight. I imagine this new Hunter stock would be similar.

I sold the bravo after a month - it’s good in a centre fire, but not in a 10/22 without a rear tang. Didn’t like that it came with a child sized stock you have to ‘upgrade’ to fit you, and I didn’t have a rear tang, I could push the front end of a 12” barrel from one side of the channel to the other with very minimal effort. Was going to get the Oryx, but if pictures of the field stock look like a good rear hold that would be better - anything aluminum isn’t fun in the winter.

I agree with all of this. Would have preferred an XRS if the inlet was available at the time.

Very nice, thanks for sharing. Love the rear hold concept.
