Very nice pistol... Can't say as I'm a big fan of front serrations on 1911 slides. Very functional but takes away from the looks, IMHO. Although, I do have some on one of my Colts... :yingyang:

I'm not a FS fan either but if the gun is designed and comes that way from Colt (or others) I will keep it that way!
I don't think yours is original though...no?:)

No, someone ruined a perfectly good Colt Series 70 slide by cutting front serrations into it after the fact.

I agree if a pistol come with 'em you're stuck with 'em . Kinda like the new Kimbers, et al. ;)

Guess you didn't see this one.....

Danny, I see what you mean! Eventhough Colt calls them (beavertail), people call them "ducktails". XSE, Gold Cups...come with those, I have a Mark IV that has one and I am not too crazy about it, but I don't think that they are badly fitted, it's just the way they are made, some people like them some don't, I try to buy mostly beavertails (Colt calls them upswept) I think they look better and are nicely fitted!:)

This is how they typlically look on thier $1300 "entry" pistols :)

Another one of them really expensive COLT 1911's with Colts fantastically fit beavertail. The Norinco beavertails are blended better then those. When is Colt going to get it right. For $1000 you can get the Kimber TLE II and it not only has a perfectly fitted beavertail, but also night sights and front strap checkering.

I agree, you don't get much for your money these days from Colt.....except the expensive "name".

I have the Colt Gunsite CCO and it was a great buy. I bought it new from the Shooting Edge a few years back and it is definitely a shooter. It's currently with Rodger at Dark International getting some night sights and magwell installed. For all those knocking Colts I can understand where you're coming from, they are expensive, hard to find and in some cases aren't as well put together as you should expect, however when Colt gets it right, they really get it right and based on how mine shoots they really got it right with this one.

Here's a pic of the one I have. This isn't mine but it's the exact same model.

Went to a local gun store to look at Kimbers a couple of weeks ago and had a chance to examine two units. Both had serious defects. On the first gun, the hammer was leaning so far to the left, it was actually touching the slide. The second gun had a poorly machined crown. This is to say nothing of the cheap, breakage-prone MIM internal parts. So Kimber is not exactly a paragon of quality either.
