Thompson centre

$400 for a receiver and $400 for a barrel? So more like $1200 CAD? Thats not bad considering what a used one is gonna cost you these days.

I've always wanted one of these with a few barrels, theres some neat calibers that aren't really available outside this platform.

I really want a 15 inch 7.62x39 barrel for mine already have a 15 inch barrel in 45-70 scored a smooth bore 12 Guage barrel sadly was kept in a garden shed and had to have it cut back to 19 inches due to bad pitting in bore had it threaddd for rem chokes it’s quite handy also have .50!cal black powder barrel which I may sell as I never use it

7.62x39 would be nice. There have been quite a few affordable single shots announced or available in recent years (Henry, CVA, Big Badger, Rossi LCW) but nobody is making that caliber that I have seen.

For the price there asking for those rifles you mention even if they did do 7.62 would still make more sense for me to buy a barrel for the encore if Thompson don’t do them when they get rolling again I will have one made by mgm the encore single shots are pretty hard to beat in my eyes

So EABCO in the states is starting to list prices for Thompson built barrels and receivers and they ship direct to Canada so maybe go check them out

I love the idea but not the price.

What do you guys appreciate about these in contrast with just getting 2-3 different entry level rifles for the same price as one of those?

I’m not asking to be confrontational, this is a serious question. Because it looks like a guy could probably get 2-3 different rifles in different chamberings for the same price, though obviously nowhere near the quality of construction.

Well you can have short barrels with these. Frames can be used for Rimfire and Centerfire. Since they were out of production the prices sky rocketed and believe once they come back, prices would lower a bit.

But entery level now is 500-600. An Axis here is nearly 700$ after taxes.

I mean Contenders, you could get barrels under 300$.

I paid 100$ for my 30 Herrett barrel, with a set of dies and formed brass, then 250$ for my 357 rem max. Cannot really buy entry level guns at that price.

My encore in 9mm with a 15 in barrel. Also have a stainless steel muzzle loader and and blued frame and blued barrel is 45lc. Have had many other barrels in the past but they have all been sold except these 3. Now I need star start looking for a contender frame.

Entry level rifles are more expensive. Once you have the receivers barrel swapping is under 5 minutes. Sights and scopes stay with the barrels so stay zeroed. The amount of calibers that are offered vastly out numbers any factory rifle. The original contenders had over 40 calibers put by T/C plus after market suppliers which would probably be another 40 calibers. SSK will custom make just about anything you want. Variety in one small package is a big plus for me. I can take my carbine and a dozen barrels to the range in one case and spend the whole day shooting. Also the lightest hunting rifle I own. With the contender pistols it can get interesting. 30-30 ,375 Winchester and 45-70 and a lot of others. And a couple pictures of my carbine and a few pistol barrels. Variety is fun.
