last night I retrieved the goat head from the crab trap i kept behind my shed, seems the bugs did their job in cleaning it up.

I've handled antelope horns, which are not antlers but layers. Are goat horns similar?

Goat horns are very thin covers on bone horns that grow from the skull. They are strong when they are grown as part of the bone, if they fall of a cliff the hold up well but once the skull starts to dry out they slide of. And they are different enough there is no fitting the wrong horn on the wrong base
