Shocker!!! I'm thinking of purchasing a rifle chambered in this cartridge. I'm aware that they are equal to the 6.5 Swede, however there appears to be more of them for sale.
Just a few questions:
-Are they easy to handload for accuracy?
-What was your best weight bullet for accuracy?
-Who has killed big game with them and how did the animal react?
Thanks!
Gary

That's getting old man.
, time to give it a rest.

Well if you followed any of Track's former posts you would know why that one came out first!

Yes, easy to load for accuracy. Mine is a dedicated bench rifle for now, but plans are to replace the barrel and make it an ambidextrous bench/hunting rifle.

I am currently shooting the 139 grain lapua tips, and would either continue with those for hunting or go 127 barnes lrx.

Many a hunting story out there killing with the 6.5CM, so I would not hesitate on most game in NA. Be comfortable with it, and like all other calibers: shot placement.

-Extremely easy to find accurate loads for.

-Most 6.5mm projectiles we’ve tried have been accurate, regardless of weight. Usually with a 4350 burn rate powder. We’ve had success with H4350, IMR4451, and StaBall6.5.

-Yes, multiple moose & elk, lots of deer. They reacted by dying quickly. ;)

You're bang-on, I do rib guys who have the 6.5 Creedmoor. I never mentioned anything bad about the Creedmoor, only the hype it was given. It is a nice little cartridge, similar to the 6.5 Swede. Thanks for the tip on you're experience with it!

Thanks, I appreciatae that information!

Great Cartridge for hunting or target shooting . Lots of F class shooters and PRS guys and gals using it . Highly popular because it’s EASY to load - accurate - low recoil and not bad for expense ! Most common weight bullet is a 140 gr -147 but I some liking 130-135 too.
Track it kills game just like any other gun - cartridge shooting the same weight -type bullet 🤷🏼‍♂️😜 No Better - No Worst ! RJ

Agreed.. although I’ve been calling it the 6.5Needmore since the early hype on here.

I’m not one to buy into something that was basically rammed down peoples throats via over-marketing hype.. jmo though

So it begs to question

Why not the Swede, PRC or even a straight 260 Rem or it’s AI variant could be put in there as viable options.

Yes, I’m playing the devils advocate on this one.

I held out not buying a Creedmoor for years. That man bun stigma is hard to overcome!
It's an amazing little cartridge though, handloading 41.8 grns H4350 with 143 ELD-X it can do no wrong.
Out of my 1in8 twist 24" barrel, I can reliably hit the 500m 8" gong with a lightweight hunting rifle.
Keep the distances sensible: elk sized game inside 300m and deer inside of 500m.
It's a fantastic choice for a lightweight & low recoil hunting tack driver. I can see a temptation to do LR hunting because of the accuracy, but that will be ill advised due to the energy limitations.

Had one about 7 or 8 years ago. Shot two bears with it. One was a no recovery and the second had to be finished by a 20 gauge slug. Sold it after that. I was not impressed. Just my two cents.
Shot placement and bullet composition means everything.....:)

It's usually not the rifle, or the caliber, it's the guy behind it!......:(

It's a deer calibre at best.....I have one in a Tikka TAC A1 and use it for long range coyote out to 1000 yd.
Wrong!

Many African species have been harvested with a 6.5 Creedmoor......:) And with great success!

I have harvested Moose, black bear, elk, WT deer, Mule deer, coyotes and even gophers' with a Creedmoor. None of the animals complained while dying.

Reloading is easy, it has a nice long neck. I've used 143 grain Hornady ELD-X, 123 grain Hornady SST bullets with excellent results.

260 Remington is also an amazing caliber. Very over-looked actually.

Reality is.. of the 260Rem, 6.5Cm or 6.5 Swede you’re really just splitting hairs between the three of them. They’re that close to each other (plus/minus of course).

It’s not until you enter into the 6.5PRC or better yet the 6.5RPM & 6.5-300Wby realms that negate any of the previous Cals arguments that one is better than the other in the 6.5 world.

Very true indeed.

I've owned and shot just about every caliber you listed. They all have their place and are all very great calibers.....:)
