Which of your shotguns would you choose if you needed to legally shoot down a small drone?

You sound like a left-wing Liberal supporter and lover. After 20 plus years in law enforcement, I have never seen someone as obsessed about protecting drones as you. What gives?...:(
Man... talk about going full retard.

In no way was the member (i.e.: IDCAY) defending the illegal use of drones, or arguing against the legal rights of a property owner. All the member said is that - generally speaking - shooting at a drone might come with some serious legal consequences and that one should assume that a drone's operator might have high-quality evidence of the shooting. One would hope that the average person could read the room and see - clearly - the intention was to protect every CGN member and the CGN community from possible jeopardy, not - as you suggest - to protect drones or any particular drone.

Bull-$hit!

Another drone defender and liberal retard.

Lots of this here on Gunnutz now…..:)

Long barrel, removable chokes and I'd suggest slightly heavier shot. I have brought down many pigeons using #4 shot. Pigeons would shrug off multiple hits of #7 and #8 shot. Slightly heavier will also carry energy further distance and you want to bring down a drone as far away as possible

Are you admitting to having shot down a drone? Cause that is SERIOUSLY illegal in Canada. It is the legal equivalent of shooting down an airplane.

You can't legally shoot down drones under any circumstances.

You should NOT do this. Or at least you should not discuss it on the internets. It is highly illegal.
I can only imagine how fun it would be to spend a day in a blind or boat with you.

Are you retarded or just plain stupid?

If a drone comes on to my acreage and starts snooping around, it will disappear, it's very simple.

One could where a mask or hoodie and no one would ever be able to identify the person.

Reading this thread and listening to you defend drones like they are your God is pathetic to say the least.

Maybe take up a different hobby and try to become a guest on the View! Lot's of WOKE left supporting b!tches for you to talk about drones with.

Not at all!....:)

A great one actually.....:)

One cannot fix stupid though. My point with the last two links is drones can/will and are used for nefarious and illegal activity. I'm not concerned for idiots that use drones for these purposes. The drones will be destroyed, it's pretty simple.

And no, I don't mean in town, at Walmart, near a school or any other obvious place where one should not engage a drone. I mean in the middle of no-where. Obviously common sense needs to apply.

But, the law is used as fear for commoners. I do not fear anything, especially not drones......:) LOL

So just keeping in mind for anyone thinking about dumping a drone flying over your property...

s430(1)(A) CCC - Mischief - Damage to Property
s85(1)(A) CCC - Using a Firearm in the Commission of an Offence
s86(1) CCC - Careless Use of a Firearm
s88(1) CCC - Possession of a Firearm for Dangerous Purpose
s351(2) CCC - Disguise with Intent to Commit
s77(C) CCC - Endangering Safety of an Aircraft

Of course, things are different if we're talking about a Ukraine situation. But the neighbour's kid flying a drone over your backyard...not the time to break out those 3" #2 lead loads you have saved from goose hunting in the early 90s.

I work in the drone industry and have been in for the past years since 2019. One main thing I learned is that even though it's considered a toy and fun tool for most. It's considered an aircraft by Police, Government and especially Transport Canada. I've worked with alot of the bigger Police Services units as ASU's across GTA and SW Ontario and they're pretty serious about the use of them for their operations.

Doesn't matter that it's less than 250g(mRPA) and doesn't need a pilot certificate. The law is clear that you can't shoot it down just because its over your property. Which by the way is owned and managed by Transport Canada / NAV Canada and require clearance in some cases (Advanced Pilot Cert) to get approval.

But hey, dont' take my word for it. Shoot one down and see what happens, maybe you'll be fine. :)

Cheers,

People like to phuc around until they find out.
Regardless of common sense and from members on CGN who actually are experts or professionals/trades.

Please don't feed the Troll. It's a habit of his. Thank goodness most of his colleagues don't share his mindset.

It's just a hypothetical question peoplekind. I thought it a timely question given the tactics on display in the Ukraine-Russia war.

If it offends you, I apologize and respectfully suggest that you not participate in the thread.

What are the charges for using a drone illegally? IE some peeping Tom etc.
it's interesting you say that.

You'll get charged for whatever the crime is, so for spying or invasion of privacy or whatever, im not too sure.

As for the drones, if you are in restricted airspace then you get charged that and TC (Transport Canada) have fines of their own. Some up to $1000 and some up to $5000 per charge depending on the charge itself if you're not licensed and not have appropriate permits. (you can look this up for flying a drone illegally)

One time I was with a friend flying a drone near SQ1 Mississauga, it wasn't me who was flying but my friend. He was doing some scenic flying and some timelapse shots. About an hour or so after he left an unmarked SUV/Pickup pulls up and these guys come up with a Tactical Uniform.

Didnt recognize them as usually I can recognize the uniform patches right away. They were with Peel Regional Police Tactical Rescue Unit (TRU). They were in the area I think. They said they got called in when someone spotted a drone in the area near the condo buildings. and they were responding to the call about a drone potentially spying or looking through people's residences. I told them it could be my friend who was there and has since left a while ago.

It wasn't serious and was fairly quick they just asked us what we were doing there as we stayed in the parking lot a little longer while talking. He eventually saw my uniform and recognized I worked with a drone company and immediately just dismissed the idea of further questions and just waved off by saying enjoy the rest of our evening.

The moral of the story: I guess the uniform helps de-escalate situations sometimes haha :), PS. Don't get too close to buildings as you might have the TRU team pop up on your location.

Cheers,
