Just wondering if anyone else loves these old Brownings Safari small ring Mauser actions in 243 and 308 as much as I do ?

I have one in 243 and really like it but mine is made on a sako action not a mauser action. Did they make both??

I prefer the easier to find, much cheaper and much stronger Swedish Husqvarna small ring Mauser action rifles.

The FN Brownings were only made from outside hardened much softer regular low carbon steel while the Husqvarna's were made from much superior full strength high-quality Chrome-Moly alloy steel, which offers much higher tensile strength and far better wear resistance than standard low carbon steel used in FN made Mauser's.

Back in the 1960's they used to highlight how it was nearly impossible to blow up one of these Husky 1640 series small ring Mauser's by packing the barrel full of wet sand before firing off a round. They passed this test all the time, it was estimated to produce pressures well over 130,000 psi.

A regular M98 large ring Mauser made from low carbon steel would regularly fail at pressures around 100,000 psi.

As a added plus they also used top quality Cold-Hammer Forged barrels which last longer as well.

No offense but you should post this in the hunting arms section
I've been looking for a FN/Browning High Power rifle in 308 for years now to no avail
