Scorpion scopes

For what it's worth, a good buddy of mine has one on his 270 and it refuses to lose zero. Bump around in the side by side, the truck, dropping it on gravel roads. Thing just won't miss.

Really. Buddy drops his rifle on gravel roads? Why? To prove how tough his POS scope is? Making up second hand stories doesn't prove anything to anybody.
Junk is junk. Buy decent optics.

I wouldn't be scared to put one on a rimfire. A couple buds use the scorpion red hot 3-12x44 on rimfires without any issues. Come with a turret matched to caliber and also have side focus. I wouldn't ever put one on a hunting rig with any recoil.

I don’t know about scorpion but i second the referral for Burris and vortex. Excellent bang for the buck, never had any trouble with them, good clarity and they hold zero. I also know Burris honor their warranty - even though it was my fault that time.
Take a look at RITON as well; I have been running one for three years on a 6.5 x 55 and another on a 455 benchrest .22 for about a year. Both clear, track 100% and in my opinion comparable to Vortex for (some times considerably) less money. Lifetime transferrable warrantee, and I have yet to hear of anyone who has had to use it.

Vortex Crossfire 3-9 would be a great choice, in my opinion.
I had one on a 10/22 and it was great. Cost me less than $200, good quality and you'll never worry about knocking it around or breaking it. Buy once, cry once.

Vortex optics are easily affordable for anyone who shoots regularly and they offer many different price point options to suit your needs and budget too. All their optics offer a solid mix of quality/reliability vs price and with their unconditional warranty program, it's a no brainer for me on most (not all) of my guns.
While true, their "budget" stuff is nothing to write home about.

Nobody is saying it is... so you're basically talking to yourself here.
It's the cheapest line they offer, of course it's not something to write home about. I would argue no scope under $500 is worth writing home about but the OP asked for a budget .22 scope, so that is what was suggested.

Older Leupold VX-1 3-9× are regularly for sale in the $3-350 range. Older Bushnell Elite 3-9× (made in Japan), are regularly for sale in the $2-275 range. Both are very good and would serve you far better than most of the names mentioned in this thread. Vortex? Scorpion? Both Chinese so you're rolling the dice and my question would be Why?

We all started somewhere, eager to have the best we could afford so we could take to the field/range. There are cheap optics out there for this reason. In my day, it was Tasco/BSA/Simmons, nowadays it's Vortex/Hawke/Scorpion etc. Don't waste your money buying something new from Cabelas because it's on sale, they don't care if it works, they're concern is getting your money. Buy a used Leupold/Elite (as suggested by 270AB), you're better off and will have twice the scope for the same money.

Awesome this helps a bunch, thanks for all the replies!
Try Arken optics .
I just picked up a couple of the lower powered ones for a .22LR and my Tikka CTR in 6.5 Creedmoor .
Failing that , Vortex has several lines of scopes in different price points that may suit what you need .
I use these on some of my other rifles from .17HMR up to my mighty .338 Lapua Mag .

I got one for my savage mark 2, after the reticle fell out of my old tasco 6-24x42, to replace it with the same scope was pushing 200 dollars on the used market, not paying that for an 80 dollar scope.
I absolutely did not want a 50mm objective (there are plenty of cheap options there) and found the 6-24x44 scorpion with a discount code not that much more then an old overpriced tasco, and so far for the application I'm very happy with it, I took the turret cap off and replaced with a standard scope cap off an old scope.

And fan-boys will be fan boys. There are alternatives now that are as good as or better than the brand with the big promotional budget. Let's keep an open mind.
