Best 22lr for hunting small game?

As a number of people have mentioned, it'll be best if you can get out and handle a few of them to see how they fit and feel. I did that recently with a number of rimfires that I was interested in getting as my first one. Thought I had decided on the CZ 457 American, and then I found a 457 Varmint not that far away so went and tried that out. I liked the way it felt even better than the American had, so I went that route. It's a bit heavier, but I like that more solid feel. Wouldn't have known if I hadn't managed to try it out locally, but glad I did. You won't regret the extra time it may take to compare them to find the one that fits you best.

I’d say Henry h001 or a nicer Henry model in 22lr (octagon barrel is nicer because they can take better replacement sight blades) Next best would be Ruger 10/22 or savage 64. Both are going to be 10 round mags only. If you want higher capacity savage a22 is the way to go or dlask tuf 22 which is really just a workaround to make 10/22’s able to use normal capacity mags in Canada. If you look around ,you can find a Cooey 60 repeater for like 140 bucks. That’s what most of the old boomers around here grew up on and they are almost the perfect rifle. Good scope mounts available, skip, the single shots.

I have a Henry lever action that I bought new in 2011 and since then, it has been my favourite gun. I have put over 20,000 rounds through it, maybe closer to 30,000. Hard to know. Over 2 bricks every year since I bought it. It’s also the most deadly gun I have ever owned. 16 rabbits, 33 coyotes, 11 foxes, over a dozen possums, probably nearly 100 raccoons, the squirrel count on that rifle is uncountable, in the hundreds. A lot of other game that I can’t post about.

Also have a savage 64 takedown that has been my second favourite rifle the last 4 years and has almost the same track record

My 10/22’s all have way more rounds through them but not the same amount of field use

Did you go with a wooden stock and a 16 inch barrel ?
