Every newbie should learn about the 1911 and be the first pistol in their collection, when the Liberals allow it.
Mr. Ford is a great inventor and manufacturer of the Model T Ford.
Mr. Taylor and Mr. Piper are the great inventers and manufacturer of a 2 seat airplane the J3 Piper Cub.
Mr. Browning is the great inventor of the 1911 that is still in production to date in many variations.
Every one should start with a 1911 as small as 22 and the best being 45 ACP.
Just think, Mr. Browning first invented the 45 ACP then created the 1911 to work perfectly with it!

That looks very much like my first 1911. Bomar rear sight, MMC front sight, ambi safety, extended grip safety. Nice. I ran into a seal team in Sumatra one time when I was working there, they were training the Indo airborne. Interesting guys with some great stories, lol. They destroyed the hotel gym though. - dan

Seen a few over the years. Had a slide and barrel assembly for one, hmm, late 80s I think. Sold it on to a buddy who needed it for some project or other. - dan

Maybe 18 months before the handgun bans a good friend of mine decided that since I probably wouldn’t buy a 1911( I’m a striker fire guy 
) he would gift me a Norc 1911 Commander. He always tells me that as a Filipino he was born with a 1911 in his hand, and that everyone should own a 1911. This Norc was a gun he built years ago when he was helping Joe Dlask at his shop, and apparently has been built a bit. I don’t shoot it often but it is very accurate and fits my hand perfectly, has ambi controls( lefty) and a very nice trigger. I really enjoy this pistol, although not super special, it is exactly that to me
