2025 100 yard .22LR discussion thread

I found the paper thing quite frustrating at first; I had them printed at Staples, and they were not cheap. I bought some 65 lb card stock, and surprisingly, it works in my printer.

Warm dry day, 20 weight paper is fine IMO, humid, misty or drizzly day, not so much.

Now that I know it works in my printer, I have been printing almost all of my targets on it.
Unless you got a eco tank. Constantly printing your targets gets expensive. My HP cartages being 25$ each only gave me 40 ish targets. I bought a Eco tank because it helps my wife business, with labels etc

But the number of people that are trying is getting less and less each year. So clearly something wrong with who and how its being run.

Card stock gives positive results and produces clean holes.
Standard paper gives substandard results.
If you are satisfied with the results of card stack versus 20 lb. paper that is okay for you.
Some of the efforts measuring groups shot on 20 lb, paper are challenging and that is why card stock is highly recommended and required.
Yes for you, this is challenge yourself. Not everybody is elitist hard-core shooter where a c hair matters, and everything is nit picked.

So yes I started a challenge where people can feel comfy. Because nothing is worst then someone trying, not do as good as you or others. Being told sorry cannot submit it. A select few forgot what it was like to have fun and what it was like to start. I don't care about the hate I get.

Also if you are using the same gun as previous entries, no need for photos of 20 of the same gun, or the sane gear. Worried about discussion. But how much room being taken for multiple duplicate images.

Well, I have a Brother one colour Laser printer. Not 12 dollars, but not expensive either. It Scans as well and I don't know how but it is supposed to be able to fax as well. Being black and white toners is not expensive as the large size lasts me 6 months to a year.

Regarding participation; people post covid are not as competitive as they were pre. Our membership has grown at our club but the number of competitive shooters has dropped drastically. New shooters are angry about what the liberals have done to accessibility to various fire arms; they are more interested in the latest and the greatist, going to the club and doing Mag-dumps.

This may change, after today, we may have even more who won't be able to take their guns out of the safe, and mag dumps in the camp fire may become the norm.

Everything sucks. What paper we are allowed is really a moot point and a minor annoyance at worst.

I have a 10+year old Brother inkjet MFC 680 and for 4-carts its about $125 but that lasts me most of a year. The targets I only print B&W but my wife prints a few color pages a week. I had an 20-year old HP Laser that finally crapped out, with an almost new $100 toner cart.

If someone has been successful in life and bought a great rifle and can afford quality target ammo, they shouldnt shoot cuz it will hurt somebodys feelings? Start a new challenge thats supposedly JUST FOR FUN but instantly offer prizes for the best scores?? Im not the sharpest tool in the shed but isnt that completely contradictory to the whole idea. The whole target fiasco is just an excuse. Theres nothing about any of this thats totally normal. Just a serious case of sour grapes. Next im sure we will be hearing about what kind of clothes shooters wear and how that affects the score with cheap hoodies verses Sitka. Man the world has become complicated

I think a lot of why the newer generation does not compete is that they are afraid to fail; they fear they won't measure up. I compare my scores to others here and i see an opportunity to try to improve. The good guys with the fancy rigs inspire me to do better, not feel afraid I am going to look like a zero because I got a low score. 10 years ago I used to win and place in a lot of competitions with open sights. That ship has sailed, but I still shoot. Our last club shoot just a couple weeks ago, of those who submitted their score, I was second last. I have already signed up for the next one. LOL. I love shooting and don't really give a flying-fiddlers-fart if everyone is better than I. We all need to just get out and support the sport.

And here I am passing mapleseed. Not only did I pass on all 3 attempts, I was also the only person attending who passed. AFAIR my worst score was 225/250. Im also only wearing a $25 Crappy tire sweater. Too bad i didn't get some Sitka - imagine how much I'd know then!

Guess what I used?

a $199 chinese rifle with a $199 Vortex chinese scope shooting CCI SV in a Home Hardware PINE stock that I rattle canned a week before the event. It was still off-gassing the day of the event. Every animal I gotten was shot through the heart while being offhand - last one was 180 yards.

Im not good at a lot of things, but I have a natural knack for marksmenship, calf raises, sarcasm, and putting people like you in your place ;)

Of course, that's just my opinion. (which you didnt understand the first time)

You NAILED IT. We all have our time to shine, even if its just a brief moment. It comes and definitely goes with failing eyes, hearing and reflexes as well as arthritis and other bodily impairments. Pass on the sport and try to encourage others. In the last five years I have given away over twenty firearms. Most to people I want to see use them before I take the dirt nap. But a few to complete strangers Ive never met. I have always loved firearms and have competed for over 40 years in many disciplines. If someone is competitive thats fine but dont think they look down on anybody. Ive progressed thru the different stages of firearms, from being a guy with three cheap rifles, with one soso scope I had to switch back and forth between the rifles. I now have more money in optics than half of what my house cost when I bought it. I get more enjoyment out of passing what I know and helping new shooters almost more than anything. Its something worth passing on

I think maybe the fumes from the OFF GASSING may have fogged his memory!! Well on second thought, maybe he was suffering mild hypothermia with that cheap Crappy Tire sweatshirt. Im happy he was able to complete the match. Im not really sure how he thinks what he was wearing is of any importance?? The 25 yard freehand target sure doesnt show how that leads to a heart shot at 180yds!! Thats 18 inches at 180 yds, so i guess he was hunting dinosaurs lol

Boo hoo you're old. No need to be ####s because you are old. I see it all the time here in my community. Old ####s being ####s because they're old. They think it's okay to ge rude, talk down to people. Because you are afraid of changes. You want #### to be stuck in the past. Then become shocked when people tell you off. You act like a ####, you be treated like a ####. Respect goes both ways.

You never earned my respect.

They're not afraid of failure. We don't like dealing with your belittling, and entitlement fudd, our way or the highway behavour. Bullying someone isn't going to encourage them..Then you wonder why they lash out.

Buck1950 suck Longstud #### already, you are liking his posts like you got a love affair. I've yet to see any decent groups from you. But you love to go after me. Nut up or shut up.
Im not sure what meds your on but YOU be needin a new perscription dude.

Oh look there the encouragement for new shooters. Just mock someone. Yet we are suppose to listen to you?

Not sure how this is helpful to anyone. Perhaps you both need to take a break.
Appreciate the advice but be careful because you shoot custom rifles and expensive ammo so youll be next on the hate list. I will listen an out of respect for your wisdom, which I appreciate and actually understand, Ill listen to your advice!
