Hi all,

I just joined the forum recently and I'm looking forward to being part of CGN! While I'm not new to firearms, I am new to firearm ownership. Recently acquired my PAL/RPAL.

I'm hoping to purchase my first rifle and other kit this year with the hope of shooting benchrest and possibly leading to NRL. I'd like to work up long distance (1000 yds+).

Currently eyeballing a Cadex CDX R7 LCP in 7 PRC, Tikka Tac A1 in 6.5, or Seekins HIT Havoc Pro.

Also, I'm very much into shooting and collecting milsurp.

Thanks all.

Welcome.

If you want to shoot long range, highly recommend to join ORA and attend their intro days before you buy anything.

Don't think Ontario has any NRL match, benchrest wise, there may be a few if you drive West side of GTA.

You might want to consider to build your own instead of factory, as you may end up replacing it or upgrade it which would cost more money. And be prepared to reload your ammo if you want to be competitive at long range.

Hi Sonichanxiao,

Thanks so much for the info.

You actually read my mind regarding the ORA. That's exactly what I will be doing. Seems like they are the only game in town in Southern Ontario area that has up to a 1000 yard range available for civilians (am I wrong here?). But I also love how they're structured and the options available. I'm keeping an eye on their membership application window.

Greetings fellow Torontonian. BTW, I try to arrange a gunnutz wings and beer night about once a month or so. Keep an eye on the "Events and Gathering" forum if you're interested.
Awesome! Thanks Lawrence! I will definitely do that. I'm a bit of a lone wolf here so it'd be nice to connect with fellow local CGN'ers.

You are on the right track.

They are the only chance you can shoot for 1000 yard within 1-1.5hour driving distance from Toronto. Send an email or stop by at the Toronto sportmen's show March 13-16 at ORA's booth, you could have more information about their plan for 2025.

And if you haven't, you may want to start looking for your local range for practicing/reloading test.
