H100V

VVN550, burn rate, physical appearance, performance is almost identical, depending on lots.

I have both H100V and N550 on hand and I've left a note for myself to try some identical loads in the same cartridge with once fired cases and identical primers, bullets from the same packages to compare them for performance at the range.

Likely won't happen for a month or so, couple of gunshows coming up. Chilliwack Mar 15/16, Penticton and Kamloops in April.

Powder distributors and manufacturers often will rename a powder to fit their "brand name"

The factories producing the powders will also make runs for other manufacturers, for all sorts of financial or legal reasons.

H100V may or may not be a "copy" but it's definitely a copycat, utilizing similar formulae and production methods to produce a very similar result when compared to N555.

To make life easier (cheaper) it's quite possible they procured a license from VV to directly utilize their formulae or even have VV produce H100V and ship it to their packaging facilities in bulk.

WhelanLad often shows charts or comparisons from charts available online, pertaining to powder manufacturers and the designations on the containers in different regions of the world, no matter whose name brand is on the container.

Thanx for this, much appreciated.

It certainly acts in the same manner, and I will post the results of my comparison test.
