Hey all!
I'm thinking about buying my first 5.56 and reading on the R18 MK2, the reviews seems pretty positive. I'd like the launch a conversation about this new MR3 coming up. What do you guys think of it? Is it the best 5.56 option out there? I'd just like to have honest and constructive opinions since I'm not knowledgeable to much. All I know at this point is that I would like a 5.56 and the choice we have is pretty limited...

Thanks for chipping in! Cheers

Find someone willing to sell you one and go for it. I like them too but not going that route because you will be criminally charged if caught.

Looking at their website, seems like it's just a matter of time no? There's also the Crypto that is not a prohibited 5.56.

You are correct insofar as Sterling Arms International being ready to commence production of the R18 Mk3 shortly after the applicable OIC is lifted. They are apparently sitting on the parts for their first 100 rifles in Canada, ready to begin assembly ASAP. It will be quick to market once a Pollievre majority changes the rules in our favour.

The Crypto can still be had right now, pending likely prohibition with the next OIC (if there is one prior to the writ dropping). It may just escape the ban-hammer along with the SKS, Garand, M1 Carbine, SVT-40 Tokarev, G43, SAFN, etc. Time and the timing of the election call will determine whether or not that next OIC occurs.

Thank you for contributing to this. Now I get a better sense of what is happening. I guess I'll have to start being religious and pray for Poilièvre to be the next one in charge...

I'd like to buy one of those! Ok I'll cross my fingers for now... Cheers!

Sometimes I envy those who just live their lives and somehow miss all the anti-gun bs going on in this country. Good news for op is they have more time to do research. Cheers!

I'm not going to disagree with you, sometimes not knowing too much is a blessing is disguise. My growing up son as developed an interest for shooting and it renewed mine. Unfortunately the timing is not great to say the least... Cheers!
