Can any help me identify what these markings on my vz24 mean?

One is the serial number but the ones on the stock disc and the right side of the receiver really intrigue me.1000000483.jpg1000000482.jpg 1000000484.jpg

Is that a Romanian VZ-24 with the crest intact? If so it’s a pretty rare find (vast majority had the crest ground off). It also means it is likely is a battlefield capture or some other suituation.

If it is Romanian the stock disk likely refers to the unit it belonged to. 51D likely being the unit and the 1439 likely being the rack number.

When these were plentiful 5 or 6 years ago are reblued “capture” refurbs (similar to k98k rc’s but usually with new-at-time-of-refurb walnut lower stocks) maybe 20-30% of them had unground Czech or Romanian crests. They unground examples sold out quickly, the scrubbed ones were slow movers.

The 24G153 marking (and variations) has been seen on mausers suspected of being rebuilt post war in either east Germany or CZ. See GB thread here:

I will never understand the general allergy of people not wishing to display the receiver crests; as if it was not significant to the identification or value of the rifle. Most auctions are even guilty of this.
"Please identify my gun but I am withholding the primary identification mark."
