Lead-free ammo only?

I liked the 'mention' of more people 'breaking their teeth' on steel shot ;)
Maybe use a strong magnet to find/pull out steel shot. Is the bismuth in an alloy with steel ? I don't shoot waterfowl.
A big issue is the gut piles left by hunters. Our club has sponsored the rehab of a couple Eagles that had lead poisoning. And other animals are effected but not always found. Many bullets fragment to 'un-recoverable' bits even if a hunter tries.

Are birds (eagles) more effected by lead than other animals? I mean I basically had a mouth of pellets every day of summer shooting gophers with air rifles growing up. I probably swallowed a fair number too? How much lead does an eagle have to eat to need rehab (how long does an eagle live in general?)
I get the impression that most of the lead free ammo initiatives are more anti hunting bans with an easy target or at least easy to implement.

Donny.

If the government can think of a new way to take your gun's away they will.

Ever seen what is underneath a wind turbine? Pre-killed birdy food for the coyotes, skunk's and other four legged vermin.

As for the OP, they want to ban all gun's, and now they are after mister Farmer and clay shooter who thought "They will never touch me".

And Donny, Happy Early St. Patrick's Day!! :)

They can be. For one thing, a bald eagle weighs like 6-14lb, so the amount of lead they're gonna need to eat to be negatively impacted is going to be a lot less than what it'll take to mess you up. Birds of Prey also tend to have more acidic stomach acid than carnivorous mammals, and lead is more soluble in more acidic environments.

He also doesn't have a birds gizzard/crop lol. Different digestion...

You can see here that lead levels in scavenging birds rises and falls according to declared hunting success in a given year.

Read this today... this is ridiculous. I bet you give it some time and they'll try push this bs onto Canada as well.

Imagine spending $1000s on ammo to be told lead has been banned, switch to bismuth or steel now..

Lead free ammo for hunting all game is the law in Germany for several years now. They upped the "environmental" regulations for shooting ranges (e.g. environmental soil testing by a government agent, to be paid by the range owner/club/entity) as well.

Lots of small town/village ranges therefore only allow lead free ammo because they cannot afford to pay for these "environmental" regulations.

My hunting buddies in that country also tell me that they were given the same "birds of prey" BS.

Basically the hunters were used as scape goats by the Leftists idiots who spew this "theory" to make hunting/shooting sports more expensive. Meanwhile, the lefty rainbow retard politicians (Carnage/Trudolf nazzi type), approved windmills in good hunting areas despite strong oppositions and even majorities. It's all about money and power.

Hunters, mushroom pickers, hikers, woodlot owners... who coincide in these areas for centuries find more dead birds of prey as they have ever seen before.

Shotgun ammo is fairly cheap. Even to replace... not so sure about some of the fancier stuff that's $5-10 per round if that ends up needing replacement..
