Norinco's "M37" - what is the thread is for?

Hi All
Any idea what that thread covered with checkered nut on the end of the barell is for?
iF there are accessories for M37 around?

Norinco YL12-1JZ 'M-37 Tactical' 12ga. Pump

My guess is that it is an outside knurled nut for a replaceable choke or maybe a thread protector for threads for a door breeching attachment. It is tactical after all.

Apologies for the 20 year necrothread, but I still have the same question haha. Does anyone know what the threading may be or what kinds of aftermarket devices are made for external 12ga threads? I cant find anything online except this forum.

Many MANY members here will get bent out of shape over this. But fk em. They’ve lost the light of what forums are for.

I’ve said it before. If we weren’t allowed. There wouldn’t be a search function. And threads would be purged for inactivity.

Looks like it's for the internally threaded style of breacher, usually the more heavy duty. Here is a picture of a Benelli one and the adapter for use on a barrel threaded for choke tubes.

From what I can find most shotguns that have external threading use the same threads as hatsan or a saiga shotgun. Might have to see if I can find something from either of those and see if it fits.

Actually I was going to suggest exactly that. I had a leftover brake from one of my Hatsan but it's a 20 ga. Would Chinese and Turkish thread patterns be the same

I honestly might just pick up a used escort with the flash suppresser to check haha! Hatsan used the Saigas thread and now I am hoping that Norinco copied Hatsan. I cant imagine 12ga muzzle devices would differ much since there is almost no after market for outer barrel threading.

I can now confirm that while close, the Hatsan and Saiga threading does not fit the Norinco. The threads are just a little too small on the Hatsan muzzle device.
