I’m looking to get into some Appleseed/Mapleseed style marksmanship shooting and I’m just wondering how active they are? I’m in Eastern Ontario but I’d be more than willing to travel as I’m assuming there will be more events in Southern Ontario. Checked the Project Mapleseed website and no dates announced yet for this Spring.

Im quite positive Rick Katigbak will be hosting more Mapleseed courses this year. As stated by Marlin989, they had Mapleseed at Stitsville last year. Its a great course teaching all the important fundamentals. Wether a new shooter or a seasoned shooter!! As soon as I see them posted in an email Ill send you a PM.

Have there ever been any around the GTA? If the irons and I can't get there, and C.'s parental-care needs preclude her coming to them and me here, if someone could spot her a loaner-iron at the event Mapleseed might be almost ideal for her to start on... then if she gets out here I just need to get .22LR conversion bolts for my M4 and her C8 and we can have a friendly little cross-border competition.

I can't speak for all locations, but they've been near Peterborough (Frankford), Kingston, Woodview, Blueridges (Grey/Bruce county), Georgian Bay...

They do also have loaner ruger 10/22s available most of the time. Normally first dibs for the younger participants and you may have to let them know up front.

Had a few texts with Rick and the new schedule is being planned out now. I will relay whatever I find out on here as soon as Rick texts or emails me. Its well worth signing up for.

There have been Mapleseeds at more than just Stittsville. Stay tuned for dates, but they happen around Southern and Central Ontario, from Cornwall to Penetanguishene.
I'd suggest going to the Project Mapleseed website and sign-up for the newsletter/announcements. That way you can get the posts as soon as they're public:

I didn’t see an option to receive notifications. Unless you need to purchase a membership? I think I’d like to try it out before deciding if a membership is worthwhile.

I did grab a Ruger 10/22 50th anniversary special edition that was apparently designed by an Appleseed shooter. Perfect rifle for my teenage daughter with the option for a shorter LOP. Keeping an eye out for a Marlin 70 for myself.

ETA: looks like they’ve started adding some dates for this year. 12 July is the first Ontario date at Lower Trent and Valley Fish and Game Club.

I don't think you need to pay. On the home page under the first picture there is a "subscribe for new event emails" and you can just enter your email. Looks like I'm signed up twice now as I tested it!

The Nova Scotia Rifle Association will be developing rimfire precision shooting over the summer.
