Bedding question for Enfield 7.62x51 rifles

I received a request for information from a friend today. He asked this.

Has there there has been any improvement on the bedding pattern for No 4 rifles in 7.62 x 51 with standard profile barrel and full military forearm. The old method was a one inch wide band starting 2" in front of the mid band. then free floated to the end. The breech end was locked solid except for clearance in front of the recoil lug.

Does anyone know the answer?
