Scottish Dirk Dagger with classic long pointed blade in early 18th century style. Handel is Classic Highland style however it is made from Micarta for added strength and endurance. Scabbard is leather It will be individually fitted to each blade before sending

Blade length 18 inch

Handle length 4.5 Inch

Weight 580gr

Sharp has been ground to give a reasonable cutting edge, but final honing, if required, is by the customer.

It is perfect size for average hand, I had it made to historical accurate size handle plus 5%. Most of dirks on the market have bit too big handles. I did not want to do same as the others do for US market with big modern size handles. I do assemble them myself however tang size is already set for this size, can make it shorter but not longer. It is very short run of 12 Units, I kept 1 to go along with my Basket Hilt and the other just in case (since no need to push them they are pointed enough to not need much effort) 10 units are for sale

I tried making scabbard tip from brass but only have round brass stock available at the moment. I do have a lathe but no grinder or milling machine at the moment. However scabbard is much longer the the blade so there is plenty of space to keep it safely in plus blade is restricted in any deeper movement by scabbard brass mouth
 
Interesting. I've only seen such dirks at Highland Games and the ones sold at those are all non-working quality, really.

People at the Games will tolerate sgian dubhs, the small knives worn in the tops of socks, I have a feeling that a foot long dirk might be pushing things though. Actually, even finding a sgian dubh that was a real knife and not a hunk of junk was quite a job.

On Monday I will post 2 more designs I put together, all were made in 4 units each so 1 for me and 3 of each will be for sale. They will be shorter than current and also bigger. Bigger one is meant to be installed into the basket from 1828 Pattern Basket hilt, still did not Finnish adding the basket
