I've been reading up on the 20-250 AI and it is a real screamer. Decent barrel life, super accurate. Wondering if anyone tried a .20 on the .220 Swift. Definitely overbore but somone must have tried it.
Where would I find out?

The 220 Swift is prone to case stretch and is not favoured for wildcatting off of. The angle of the swift case contributes to brass flowing forward and potential case head seperation after numerous reloadings. It is advisable to use a neck sizing die for the swift case to reduce the amount of brass worked with each reloading. The .20 has the TAC and PPC wildcats that are popular. The 22-250 AI is a nifty one and would do well with a faster twist than 1:14 to stabilize 60+ grain pills. I have a Swift and love it...it has a great history and gets the job done well.....but it is no answer to windy days and 300 yard shooting. The 55 grain pill gets pushed around more than say my .243 70 grain @ 3850 fps out of the 243 WSSM. The swift uses a semi rimmed case and needs to be stacked in the mag perfectly or can have loading issues to the launch ramp.

IIRC I read an article in American Rifleman in the early 60's about P.). Ackely messing with the 20/220, and some other obscure wildcats, along with his
17 calibers at the time.

Imagine a .17-.220 wildcat! I bet the barrel would last 100 shots.;)

Thanks guys, a .20-250 AI would be a great round for Remington to adopt and blow the .204 Ruger out of the water. It would have it licked by 400 fps across the board with all bullet weights.
