I have a Rossi 92 and was wondering if it can take 45 shorts?
Got a bunch for my SA 45 CA.
Emailed Rossi and had no reply.

Thanks!

Im just concerned about the breech. Not going to experiment, Just wondering if anyone has experience with these so I can use them instead of them siting around.
Thanks.

If it feeds I can't see why they wouldn't work?
The 454 Casull R92 shoots both 45 colt and 454 Casull
the 45 short should be a lower power round then the colt so it should be fine

It's been a while, but I had a Rossi 92 in 454 Casull for a while about 12ish years ago. I shot 45 colt and 454 out of it with no issue. Never tried anything other than those 2. They both fed fine, but 45 Schofield should have worked it in as well. No idea about 45 short, but if it feeds then it should be alright. Feeding reliably would likely be the hardest part with it.

I don't know if the .45 short would cycle in your Rossi 92 , but I have a Rossi 92 in .44 magnum and the .44 russian won't cycle in mine. I ask the same question on another forum and users there told me the same thing .So you will have to try it to know exactly.

Thanks!
Will give it a go next chance and report back.
Using 6gr Tightgroup right now for 200gr lead. Very accurate with buckhorn sights at 75 yards. Very happy with it.

I bet it will jam. But good luck. In my 73 I need a different carrier for cowboy 45 special.
The the cowboy 45 special will give you leading in your chambers. I'm betting you will get better accuracy with 45 lc.
The only advantage with cowboy 45 special is with black powder. Basically it's like 44 Russian. Gives you less smoke so you can see your targets better in cowboy action shooting.

So I got my answer.
45 shorts do not feed. I manually loaded the rounds one by one to test.
saw no shortage for accuracy, shorts were loaded a year ago so .5gr s does make a difference LC wise. 200gr lead. 25y

With 20 grains of black powder and lee 200g I don't get the leading in the chamber with cowboy special. I'm going to try Keith 255 grain next. Maybe 300g Lee after that.
With the Keith 255g it will increase your overall length of the cartridge. Cowboy special might feed in your rifle with a different bullet that increases your overall length.
I think the 357 m92 will shoot 38 special so maybe yours would chamber Schofield or cowboy special with a longer bullet?
What are you trying to achieve with cowboy special? More capacity?
