870 14" barrel value?

Not sure if this is the issue but I once had a Dlask 14" and it didn't play well with some forends, not enough clearance.
That's because they are fatter :)

Nothing a bit of sandpaper can't fix.

Just curious is all - buy what you like. It's just interesting that something like the 590AI gets purchased specifically because it's overbuilt and then people balk at the Dlask because it's overbuilt.
It's a moot point anyway since it seems all of the Dlask barrels are out of stock except the 18.5".

I have a new 870 police 14" for a work bear gun but I was considering selling the 14" barrel and getting a 18.5". The reason for this is that I don't know if my coworkers are safe using the 14", they haven't used one before. However, I've decided that I'll keep the 14" because it is now looking like I'll be the only one that uses it this summer so no coworker safety concerns. If someone does need a bear gun they can use the old Winchester ;)

The Dlask barrel is superior to OEM imho. Glad I picked one up when I did I guess?

Just curious, why? Dlask barrels are built like tanks and Remington quality is hit or miss...
I’d chalk it up to personal preference. I prefer parkerizing, mod choke and pedestal bead or rifle sights. Dlask either has a bead mounted too low or that blade sight and they’re all Cyl choke AFAIK. As for being overbuilt, it isn’t necessary in my opinion and can lead to clearance issues with some forends.

ETA: I’ve never heard of QC issues with a Police model, certainly not to the same extent as the Express. I’ve heard plenty of complaints about Dlask over the years, not about their 870 barrels though. Used to be a popular saying on this forum, IBS.

The old NEA 870 barrel I have was like this, it’s thicker/heavier than the factory Rem barrels. I had to lightly sand the forend to get clearance and the top of the barrel over the chamber was tight where it slip fits into the receiver, I lightly filed it till it was a snug fit.

This is a good thing though, it’s one of my most accurate 870 barrels. There is no slop or play between barrel and receiver fit, I’ve always read about guys pinning 870 slug barrels to eliminate any accuracy issues related to sloppy barrel fit.

I think Dlask will thread for rem chokes if someone wants it done, it’s an extra cost but an option. I hear you on the rifle sights, that’s my favourite as well

North Sylva is an importer and a distributor. They sell to dealers. If your dealer doesn't have it they can get it from North Sylva. It's in stock.

But it won't come cheap.
What are they selling them for and which barrels do they have in stock?
Cylinder?
Modified?
