Doubles

The adjustment worked pretty well picked up a couple birds and missed only 1 first out of the house. Wind was playing havoc but I am pleased ,shoot IC, Mod in my doubles, pretty much always have.

I am by no means a great doubles shooter but I love them, fast and fun, if I shoot my MX14 it's fixed M/F so never worry about chokes, if I shoot my CG I have LM / LF in which also works great, normally shoot 1oz 8"s @ 1180 for 1st shot then 1oz 7 1/2's @ 1235 2nd shot, my average is around 85% so a solid C shooter being old and a little slow to the 2nd target but still getter done and have fun.

i shot trap 1973- 1997 ish
AA singles
26 yd line
floated between B and A
doubles
model 12 singles and handicap sometimes a bt 99
rem 3200 doubles
but what do i know
6000-8000 targets a season
plus some skeet
when you get the choke thing figure out and start breaking targets you will be on your way

I think the two biggest mistakes people make shooting doubles is waiting to see if you broke the first one and rushing to catch the second one. I had a hell of a time with doubles until I started ignoring the first target and waiting a beat until I got on the second one. AN A class doubles shooter told me that he had tried every choke combination from full/cyl bore to full/full and he couldn't see any real difference on the first target. It just takes a lot of practice.

Absolutely 💯 that shot is gone and you need to find the next bird and hit it. It changes hearing "dead loss to dead pair"

That’s good advice!

The Lewis class must have paid you well.

😉
actually always made some money back played the options all the time that was part of the and the game at that time
made some money at the calcutta when i was at the 23-24 yd line i would buy myself
once i got back past that many very good long yardage shooters

Big Calcutta money is getting to be a thing of the past, broke 25/30 (they cheated me out of one) with the pump model 12 at the specialty shoot was pretty happy with that, maybe I should go back ....:)

I am not much of a trap shooter, but that applies to skeet and sporting clays as well. I swing the gun, shoot, then immediately swing for the second bird, and doubles was my strongest event.

This was video'd using my Shotkam this past weekend. I was shooting a Browning Maxus Sporting Clays with flush IM factory choke. First shot was Challenger 1oz HV #9 shot, second shot Winchester Super Target 3 dram 1 1/8 #7.5.
Winds were 54kmh gusting to 64kmh at an angle from behind over our left shoulders causing the targets to be pushed down. Second target (right hand) was very flat and headed down a good 10 yards before normal crest distance. You had to be under that right hand bird if it was the second target if you wanted to break it.
