Hi there, this is totally not my area of expertise and while I did a cursory search online, it seems like there are a couple of options and because I have never tried mounting a designed-for-handgun red dot on a long gun (rifle or shotgun), I thought I'd ask those of you who are much more well informed than I am on these matters.
So basically, I have a 507c x2 red dot. I mistakenly assumed it comes with various mounting options, including onto a picatinny, as exists on the 1301. Clearly I was wrong.
So it looks like I have two choices:
1. remove the picatinny and buy some mount that is compatible with how I would mount the 507c.
2. buy some mount that is a QD type of mount that both works to secure the 507c to it, but then the mount can then secure onto a picatinny
There are a few things that I may wish to consider - whether I want to remove the built in sights that came with the shotgun or find some mount high enough that I can co-witness with the irons.
I honestly don't know where to begin here, or what is perhaps a recommended practice/configuration.
My M4 has a HS515GM, which already has the QD for the picatinny rail. I could have bought another 515GM but I just wanted to try something different. Unfortunately, it does not appear that I thought through all the nuances here (what else is new?). So any feedback and suggestions would be welcome (aside from the "why did you get that sight" or reminding me how dumb I am)...thank you!
