Winchester 1885 in 22 LR

They do, have to find used. I have Winchester one in 17hmr that I found last year. The iron sights aren't great, semi buckhorn with the bead front. They are there for looks. Eye socket weld with the stock design. Design is for working better with a scope. Accuracy is decent on mine, 1.5 inches or better at 100m scoped. Good enough for gophers.

i have had a wtb on EE for ever had one fellow contact me and was going to sell one to me a japan model which what i want then he backed out that is as close as i have come to buying one
Profit river have a 17 hmr for sale it has been on the rack for quite some time

You can get a 22 barrel liner that slides into a 45-70 barrel. They're super accurate.

Insert this 22 long rifle barrel liner into your single shot black powder rifle and you have an inexpensive way to practice with you competition guns. This liner is offset so it does not use a shell holder adapter as in the other but instead uses your rifle's center fire firing pin to directly strike the cartridge on its edge. Extraction is then quickly accomplished by the use of a small screwdriver.

Just what you want in a precision/target rifle... lol

You'll have to re adjust your sights after you put it in for every range session, but once it's in the barrel it is accurate and fun. The little screwdriver pops the case out easily. With good ammo it shoots around an inch at 100yds with globe and vernier sights.

Considering how cheesy the idea sounds, they are surprisingly accurate with good ammo. I had one for several years and have shot 10 shot sub moa groups at 100m with it, in calm conditions with good match ammo. It's not a speedy way to shoot though with the screwdriver extractor.

10 shot sub moa with a .22 rimfire at 110 yards will win a lot of benchrest matches. There are guys with dedicated rim fire benchrest guns who often don't do that.

I'm sure most of those dedicated match rifles would be more consistent on average. It did surprise me how well it worked with RWS R50 or Centre X. I wouldn't have believed it before trying. My CPA Steven's 44-1/2 with a heavy Douglas barrel is what I use for .22 these days and it is better of course. But far more expensive.

If I didn't just get the chiappa LS in 30 30... I'd get one in 22.
Although the New Savage Revel might has to come first.
If not for anything else than "It's made in Canada"

Lol, that's sort of what I was thinking when I read that. :)

I'm hoping that the screwdriver doesn't actually touch the steel of the gun barrel at all, but merely the chamber end of the liner itself. In the picture, it looks like the breech end is made of brass? I wonder how many times it will stand up to prying and poking with a steel screwdriver. I also wonder about the interior of the barrel being abraded by grit and debris introduced by those O-rings, if that's what they are.

How does the liner fit into the rifle barrel without going in too far, and yet also without engaging with the extractor when you open the gun? It appears to have a rim?

Sounds like a cool idea, but I think the whole DIY extraction thing would get old fast.
