Anyone use the BM59 gas plug, the one that is basically solid and round inside?

I have seen the GI style and the adjustable orifice one where you use a small hex key wrench to open or close the orifice to regulate pressure on the piston face.

Yes, they work fine on a standard Garand.

A Real Tipo-2 is a 30-06 Barrel cut down approximately 12mm and reamed to 7.62x51

For those really paranoid about modern sporting in a Garand, there's those adjustable gas plugs. I have one where you can swap out the screws, and at extreme setting, the gun becomes a straightpull.

modern sporting 150 at typical pressures will feed just fine in a Garand without hurting anything in my experience. anything over about 168gn starts to become an issue though with prolonged use. I would avoid the 180's.

I really like the Garands , I may need to get one . My American uncle carried one in WW 2 He landed on Omaha or Utah can’t remember which . Luckily not the first wave of soldiers . He made it home in one piece . RIP uncle !

If its a Tipo 2, technically. The Italian Military cut down 3006 rifles to convert them to "308"
