Hunting ATV'S/E-bay

Thats why you dont buy Polaris up where you are Riden!!! I also have not heard too many good things with other dealers in High Level.

I owned my Yammi less than a year and there was a recall, my wife was going so I sent it with her. She calls at the end of the day saying my machine needed 3 cv boots replace and it would be $500. She didn't know what to do. I said forget it, I'll do it myself. When she came home, all cv boots were perfect. Theiving bastards.

New ownership at Polaris, the old guy was an arse, you are right about that.

I think Jack is a lot better, I would buy from him.

I plan on buying a ATV and possibly a boat from the states this year, depending on money of course. From what i hear and the little research I have done it seems to be a good idea.

I just bought one of the imported Japanese Right Hand Drive micro 4X4 trucks. Mine is street legal, and I use it for daily commutting.
PLUS, it is a fraction of the cost of a big ATV.

Slap on a lift kit, bigger rims with more aggressive off road tires, and you have a VERY capable ATV .... with an enclosed cab, a heater, a 6'6" X 5' bed, and a cargo capacity of 400 kilos.

Check these out on the internet by doing a search on "KEI 4X4". there are many dealers across Canada who inport these great little vehicles, but most of these dealers want a fortune for them [ average price here on the wet coast is $ 7000 ]. When you consider that they go for about $ 1200 - $1800 at the auctiuons in Japan, and that seven of them fit nicely into a 40' container to minimise shipping costs, then a trip to Japan with some cash in your pocket seems like a great idea for A VACATION!!

In fact, I am planning just that ... much as I am enjoying my current truck, the wife wants one of the cute little KEI sports cars, I want a 4X4 VAN with a supercharger, for the street, and we really should have a 4 Door "kingcab" so the dog has a place to sit inside with us.

I may be a skeptic, but it sounds like a good cover story to me.

There are untold numbers of "used" ATV's being sold on our side of the border from US "dealers". They can't sell new, or they'd get slapped from the manufacturers, so they run a few miles on them and call them used.

Think about it... why would anyone put 13 miles on a machine and then sell it.

But, then again, no doubt there are some legit used machines coming up this way, so I'll take my pessimism and be quiet now. ;)

I finally found this post again , Yes apparently he traded it in on a trailer( tent) as all his buddies could not get out that often Quading ( I looked at my odometer on Sunday last I have put 21025 kms. on it since Aug of 06. Warranty ended this Feb. Expect everything to fall apart now.:):):)

Its not like the warranty is a long time anyway, usually 1-2 years depending on make. They won't cover any wear and tear, which is the most damage done.

The standard factory warrant on most machines is 6 months, but often times manufacturers have some sort of promo that boosts it to 1 or more years. That being the case, unless you buy in the spring, you really don't get the benefit of six months warranted riding. If you buy in the fall, you likely ride for a couple months, and the warranty expires during winter while it is parked or seldom used.

As for dealer service, I think it is overstated. Take it in for the first service before the warranty expires, have anything that is wrong fixed under warranty, and leave with a service record that shows maintanence was performed. As most dealers will tell you, the first service is the most important (valves, fluids), as it shows initiative to have the machine maintained, especially if there are future problems. After that, it is simply a matter of changing fluids and filters regularly, which most backyard mechanics can do.

Japanese minitrucks

I look forward to using these little trucks - we just now have seven of these ready to sell and lots more on the way - just a fun little side business. The suspension isn't like an ATV, but the gearing is so low that they will crawl through or up anything. Can I mention the website here? canadianminitrucks.ca Sorry if that is against the rules, but it seemed relevant to the topic.
