I'm looking for some advice or recommendations on an adjustable front rest , like a SEB but something that won't break the bank. Are there any decent ones for around 500 bucks or is that wishful thinking?

Curious what you want to use the rest for ... I assume competition, such as FTR or FO? SEB makes rests for both.

I got one Rempel rest last summer, it fits the bill.
Are you taking about Henry’s Bi-Pod Rest or ? RJ

This is my Savage 308 BRTR 308 rifle . 😊

I have that same front rest you show in the picture. I replaced the clamp to arca.
This my rear rest with some 3d printed blocks.

"Other Restrictions:
The use of vertical spacers under the rear bag is permitted, but they cannot have any adjustments for windage or elevation, nor any protrusions that can insert into the bench top or sandbag. The rear sandbag must not be contained in any manner. "

This is quote fro the DCRA, I'm not sure if that is a legal rear rest as per ICFRA.

The problem I see is with my pocket money :)
For a 300 distance shooting from the bench at my club I can use the rear rest if not more but for my own fun game.
A jump to 500 and longer f-class - I cannot justify paying for the association plus the range over $500 as much I read the information.
I may try as a guest, but that is a lot of money just to play.

Yes, I was eyeing those rear soft rests, but I need to decide - what 4?
I have many other hobbies to feed ;)

My apologies, I thought you were getting ready to shoot sanctioned Fclass matches.
Carry on :)

Yea MECHANICAL rear rest 👎 not allowed in the BR or F leagues . RJ

I've been in shooting sports since early 2000.
I competed in archery over 17 years, on my own expense.
Yes, I had a long sponsorship from a German company for some ten years for equipment only, but in Canada I got my travel expenses reimbursed if I could show a podium medals only. Yes, I had several both inboard and "international", but again...
I remember the years I had to finance $8-10K for my own travels and lodging, because the Canadian sports shooting association decided sponsoring Olympic disciplines only.
And at some point or year in the past I stopped sponsoring myself. I started taking my family for cruse vacations for that same money.
If this explains where I stand with the expense for competing on Ontario or Canadian levels? ;)
Yes I had some great value trips to US Tournaments, but lately that one got expensive as well, cannot justify.
Shooting sports belong to a category of non mainstream $ money grab.
You all younger, you will learn sooner or later :) .

I have been competing in the shooting since 1966, but rarely get out of town these days for a match, just local stuff mostly .
If you do not plan on competing you may as well throw a tuner brake on your rifle to cut down on the recoil even more .

A fun story I remember, mind if I share :)

Back in those years, the Canadian Championship in NS... If I remember correctly that was a five days event starting with eliminations.
Flying out from GTA, book a Hotel, rent a car for 5 days, some cash for meals.
And the weather a whole week was a pouring pissing rain getting into your bones.
My $700 bucks rain coverall could not prevent to feel like sitting/standing in your own cold piss and shaking like crazy a whole day and night.
Got back to my room at the evening and my cloth doesn't dry fast enough and not enough reserve.
Some 100's of our shooters in columns drive to the first open store over midnight some 120 Km across the US border :) . That was probably they're Walmart best business over several decades.
Next day pouring rain, and next again.
You are shaking shooting and shaking waiting. The Tournament doesn't stop unless lightning strikes.
I won a silver medal worth probably a $5 to organizers, all my equipment fully rusted until I got back home... But I will have a smile on my face whenever I mention about that trip.
And guess what? if I ask my wife or family or friends?

This how I learned where I need to draw my line.

I as well have won or placed in the top three in more than a few Provincial and National Championships over the years in three different disciplines and know many other championship winners here, at least one that is in the DCRA Hall of Fame.
It never was and never will be about the money because there is no money in it .
Thst is not why I do it .

I don't shoot competitions, just at the range. I bought an F-class type stock with a 3" flat forend. right now I am using a m-pod in a chassis but would like to run a rest when using the WOOX stock

I used to shoot Olympic class archery in my youth and younger days. Back then we got funding for travel, food, flights. The Canada. Games in Saskatoon got us lots of perks. Every year after the money tapered off unfortunately. I did well however and one year was approximately 5 shooters away from Olympic qualifying. I won indoor national events often. Went to the USA nationals twice, and our team trained in Arizona twice and picked up a record or two. Great times. Sadly work and life changes and it was too hard to get time to train. To be honest , I needed to move to BC or Ontario to advance anymore anyway.

that's a pretty cool rest. Do you know if he bought it in Canada?
No he ordered it from Grizzly in Washington state and shipped to Sumas at the Can US border and his brother in law when and picked it up !
Might be TOO pricey for shipping into Canada with the weight it is ! all you can do is go thru the checkout and see a total US cost shipped to you and add on $$ exchange ! RJ
