Neck Soot .308 Win

Thanks a bunch for digging that up, it is greatly appreciated.

Yeah, I can see that I am definitely in the low range according to both Lee and Lyman. I'll work up some hotter loads for the next range trip and report my findings. Likely two weeks from now.
All good, nice to have multiple manuals to cross reference sometimes. Those are from free pdf versions I found online, or someone on here shared a link to their Dropbox folder with downloadable pdf files of multiple load manuals, I like having hard copies at the bench but it’s nice to have pdf to check when you’re out and you see a deal on powder you don’t normally use.

Yes My Varget loads are always hotter than 41 grains in any of the 308's I have ever loaded for .

Was at the range today and had a chance to fire some loaded rounds. Still experiencing neck soot at 44gn, but getting decent groups as long as I do my part.

I notice that some rounds are hard to extract, not sure what is causing it as it may only be two to three rounds per ten shot. The primers don't show signs of over pressure (flattening, gas blow by etc.) Wondering if maybe the Sierra Hotcore and Varget combo is the issue and might be why Sierra doesn't show that particular combination in their data sheet.

I am going to try a different bullet, I may go with the Hornady interlock, the factory ammo seems to do well in my rifle. I'd like to see tighter groups than what I get with the factory loaded Hornady interlock.

All in all, as always, any day at the range is a good day.

If you have had extraction or bolt lift you are already over pressure for that particular rifle/ cartridge combination.
