I am looking at scope options for a 9.3x62. I have grown very fond of my Burris Fullfield IV 2.5-10x42. I have it mounted on a 30-06, and it holds zero really well. Would it hold up to the 9.3?

I'm intending to stick with Burris, but would another model be better? My intended use is hunting in AB... not really a plinker sort of rifle :)

I have that exact scope on my 375 h&h sako. It takes it just fine. I've never had any issues and the scope is probably seen a couple hundred rounds. I like it enough that I also have a 4.5 to 14 of the same model on my 6.5 swede tikka. That one shoots:)

I've had a Burris Fullfield on a light-ish 9.3 rifle in the past, and it seemed to hold up fine. I will go against the grain here, and all things equal, the 9.3 absolutely stomps on the 30-06 for recoil "because math". On the flip side, Burris is supposed to have a decent warranty, so if you shake it loose you can test out their warranty!

I’ve been going down this rabbit hole as well lately, I’ve come to the conclusion that I want a 1-4x20 or 1.5-5x20 or a 2-7x32 at the most.

My big gripe with most 1-5 power scopes is they are a lot of 30mm tubes and I want to keep it to a 1” tube, I don’t like vortex so I’m left with Leupold. They come ahead of the pack anyway in the glass dept, 1-5 mag range is plenty for my hunting need in a med bore cartridge and I want to keep it in the DGR esthetic. Low mag, compact optic with a wide field of view.

Looked at a 3-9x40 Leupold for a screaming deal but it just felt too big overall, more magnification than I want on the low end as well.

This'll work just fine. I don't think the Signature series is enough of a step up to justify the price. I'd rather go straight to a Veracity, but they have a more substantial footprint.

My 9.3x62 wears a Leupold 2.5-8 and I think they are the best compromise, value, weight, magnification etc one can get!

Low powered 1” tube Leupolds would work best.
Some decent eye relief would be a bonus.

Excellent point on the eye relief, when you start hand loading up into the 300 + gr woodlieghs it can get “stout” in the recoil department. It’s such a great cartridge, nice choice .

I use the Burris signature HD 2-10x40 because of the adjustable turret for my 450 bushmaster. Shoot it out to 400m so the drop is significant and nice to adjust the scope as required.

Perfect scope for it! My rifle came with a QD German made Side mount, I put my old Tasco on it, I think it is a 1.5 -5. Perfect match for me. IMG_4571.jpg

Interesting, I find mine much more thumpy than my '06. OTOH, my 9.3 is in a really light stock, whereas the '06 is in a porker. I will be switching them around.
Mine weighs just a bit over 7 lbs without the scope, it is a bit of a punisher without the slip-on recoil pad.
