A bolt action screw thread pitch

Trying to figure out browning A bolt action screw thread pitch. Doubt they are different but it's for a short action rifle. I'd like to change out the slotted screws for Allen head screws. Anyone have this information? Thx RB
 
If you are asking about the scope base mount holes, the most common used there are #6-48 tpi, although a very few rifles (Remington 788, for example), use #8-40 to mount their bases. Chances really good that you will not find those screws with that thread in your local hardware store.
 
Sorry for the confusion. I'm asking about the screws(bolts?) that hold the receiver the stock. I've always called it the action but I can see why that's not actually correct.
 
If you have a Fastenal or Allstate or other fastener supplier in the area if you take the screws out and take them there they should be able to tell you the size and pitch. The other option is take them out and go to Home Depot and find a nut that screws on properly and then you will know the size and you could order what you need online.

Lastly is to order a set of thread pitch gauges off Amazon and you can measure thread pitch to the end of days……😉
 
Action screw is the correct terminology. Take down bolts or screws are for a take down style rifles and scope mount screws are for scope mounts.

Take your screws to a gunsmith who has thread pitch gauges & calipers and have them measured.

I have never seen anything except slotted screws for the A Bolt.

34 tpi (.029) is extremely close to 0.7mm pitch (0.028)

Post # 8 is actually the dimensions of an A bolt 1 screw. Post #10 is A bolt 3 screw dimensions. Only posted for comparison to A bolt 1 screws. RB
