Optic choices for a Beretta 1301 and other "must-do" mods

So I finally was able to pull the trigger on a 1301 (shout out to Al Flaherty's) and looking for suggestions on a good optic for it. I have very little experience with red dots and this is my first semi auto shotgun.

In my research I see a lot of people hyped about the Primary Arms GLx 1x. I do have astigmatism so I read this would be a good choice. Thoughts? Do you remove the pic rail to mount it?



Another option is the Vortex Viper SG Enclosed Red Dot




Other planned tweaks include

• the mod 2 hand guard or some other model with mlok.
• limbsaver (because old age)
• +1 extension
• velcro shotshell carrier

Am I missing anything? Would love to see what you guys have done so pics appreciated. Thanks

I like a green dot for astigmatism - mounted a Holosun on mine with a cowitness mount. That plus a half ring aperture is a pretty damn nice sight picture. ..

magazien tube , we have 500 being made, also a few weeks away

I put a mesa tactical trukee forend on mine. It's beefy, yet light and has mlock all over it. I have the 1301 comp. Has a vent rib. When the mesa tactical LEO adapter (allows are pistol AR grips and stocks )comes in, I'll get that. I'm also thinking of what optic. I'm liking the Vortex Viper SG and the Aimpoimt Acro S. You're gonna love shooting it. Extremely fast and reliable. I've also gotten a full extended choke.

I put a mesa tactical trukee forend on mine. It's beefy, yet light and has mlock all over it. I have the 1301 comp. Has a vent rib. When the mesa tactical LEO adapter (allows are pistol AR grips and stocks )comes in, I'll get that. I'm also thinking of what optic. I'm liking the Vortex Viper SG and the Aimpoimt Acro S. You're gonna love shooting it. Extremely fast and reliable. I've also gotten a full extended choke.

You guys got laser cut Velcro for the 1301

I like the Viper Enclosed Shotgun red dot. I plan on getting one with the multi-reticle. One vendor mentioned the Vortex sits so low that you probably need to remove the rear sight block as it would obscure too much of your sight window.

507 Comp with green dot would be my choice. Big window for both eyes open shooting, multiple reticle options and good price.

For mount I want it as low as possible to the gun to reduce the up close / far away height over bore issues in competition - Tac Ord TOMM mount was the best fit for me.

Thanks! Just checked the 507 out and I do like the features. Definitely adding that to the mix. The TOMM mount looks similar to the mount on the Viper SG. Do you lose the ghost ring or are you using a Beretta Comp model?

I have the Primary Arms on mine and love it, as far as recoil reduction, take a look at this. It's what I got on mine.
