Been awhile since I’ve perused smaller air rifles.

Looking for something physically smaller but good quality and not bulky. Kid is showing a real interest in shooting and I’d like to foster that along.

Left eye dominant.

I grew up with an air rifle in hand roaming the rural property we lived on. Wore out a pair of Diana M 34’s in the years between 11 and 19, conservatively put WAY North of 300 000 pellets through them.

Any recommendations that you have used for a smaller kid? I want to set him up for success right out of the gate because I know that the sheer volume of shooting I did was incredibly helpful to me as an adult.

To clarify… the ask is:
-physically smaller and lighter air rifle.
- .177 cal
- scope compatible
- what have you handed to your smaller framed kid to use, that they could physically handle, and operate on their own?

Rascal 22 is what my oldest learnt on , and daughter has shot a little now

Middle just prefers his BB gun like mentioned …… both boys shoot the 223 though at 100 yard pumpkins , jugs , oil filters etc etc

So yea. Rascal or any single shot 22 is a safe bet is my dope

Crickett CPR (accuracy international 22lr clone)
He's asking about airguns.
Also I do not know about Crickets CPR but on their regular model the trigger is so bad it almost made my daughter cry. It literally ruined her shooting experience that day.
In context she was having a contest against her brother with his Rascal and he hit nearly every shot while she missed 100%
I tried both guns (about equally accurate but the cricket had one of the worst triggers on any rifle I've ever tried)
Savage Rascal
Not an airgun but definitely a better option then the regular cricket model.

I found my kids liked most guns on a bipod so they don't have to hold all the weight on them . Though my daughter is getting better at standing while shooting.
We too have the lever action bb gun from Cabelas.

You said since you’ve perused air rifles. That make people think you are looking for air rifles

So yeah savage rascal or CZ Scout

I am looking for an air rifle. Not a bb gun toy that will just frustrate him in the accuracy department.
He already has a Savage Cub and T/C single shot in 22 rimfire.

I’m looking for something he can run 500-1000 pellets through a week on the back 40.

Crosman 760 or a Crosman 1377 with a stock may be another option.

Princess auto has 760 for 16$ on clearance. Buy many for parts. Probably not as good as the older ones.

I had a Ruger Explorer but I dont think it would last long time.
