some of you guys know i got grandfathers 22 hornet, lovely double trigger brno 1949 model

ive got a heap of brass now and may start to dabble with it in near future, as have got a mix up of 40gr projectiles in .22 , i thought were suitable for the 222 but are more a Hornet bullet.

question is, is it a no go to have that original chamber cut for a k hornet? or would it be something you would do once the original barrel is no good , rebarreling to the k hornet ?

i dont think ill ever sell the gun, but , is it worth anything / something as is? is it one of those guns you dont muck with..?

or is it a purpose for practicality for future use to have it re chambered as is-
i think pros are longer case life? less stress on them? a nicer shoulder an a few extra grains ?

Depends if you are trying to squeeze that last bit of power from that little cartridge... then maybe it make sense.

Personally, I'm happy enough with the hornet as is, reloading with lil'gun... à case full (13gr) under 35-40gr has grouped well. Take a second to chamfer the case mount, and you'll be fine.

As for your BRNO, the 465 is probably the nicest bolt action rifle around... and don't lose the magazine, as they are of the expensive side of things.

I have a friend who K'ed his little Brno. Never could get the mag to feed properly. I think a Hornet K is a great cartridge, but I wouldn't modify a classic rifle to get one. - dan

I shoot a couple hornets, buddy has a K. The only advantage of the K is brass life. He thinks it stretches less. The Brno does not have a big mag so you can’t seat the longer bullets. I’d keep it as is and enjoy. Your gun should be worth $ 1000-1600 .

I bought a 527 already cut to K-Hornet. You can maybe get 200fps more with a K so, is it worth it? Only you can say. But if you decide to go with it, why wait? try it with the original barrel.

I have very little case stretch with the standard Hornet.
I agree with keep it as is.

I never was able to beat the S&B ammo for accuracy. Unless you want a different bullet or there's a lot of money to save I would start with that ammo (if you can find it).
