I found a couple candle holders that are marked 1891 lead antimony im wondering it thay will be good for making projectiles?

What are you casting for? Rifle, pistol, black powder ??

Almost anything can be cast into a projectile.

Take a chance and buy it.

Cast a few, measure the diameter and the hardness.

Should tell you almost everything you need to know

If they are antique candle holders they are probably worth more kept in one piece then the lead bullets you will get out of them

My thoughts also.
I have melted a lot of mystery alloys that looked like lead. I melt it into bars and test to see how hard it is. My last mystery alloy turned out to be Linotype. Only a 6 lb block but still a good find.

45 colt and 44-40 both through lever action rifles but starting loads with titegroup

Good buy!!

Antimony price is crazy high right now due to export restrictions from China, like US$32/kg so about CAD$20 / lb.
Probably better to use it to alloy other lead with than to cast straight into bullets.

Looks like 1631 to me, not 1891. Probably doesn't mean anything useful either way.
