Pictures are not that great but I think you should Google Image "pitcher plant".

It does look like it, a variety of a carnivorous plant typically found in wetland and damp peat moss bogs.

Funny enough, I saw several specimens of this variety of pitcher plant this past Sunday.

Yeah, pitcher plants. And yes insectivorous because they grow in nitrogen poor habitats like bogs. Although a recent study in Algonquin Park has found some that digest small herptiles such as salamanders. They are really cool.

neat..... so that brown thing lower left near the ground is part of that plant?
Like i say, frst glance it looks like a skunk cabbage but closer look and I can see it;s not.
We don;t seem to have many pitcher type plants in BC except up in Peace country bordering alberta and they are purple and way smaller. I've seen them in patches while elk hunting some areas.

These are Purple Pitcher plants - Sarracenia purpuria in autumn. I've only ever seen them in Newfoundland but apparently they exist around the Great Lakes and even south beyond New York. I took these pictures several years ago.

And that's what it is in that pic.

The purple pitcher plant seen in the other pics is usually way shorter and lives in bigger clusters closer to the ground. Also they like grassy bogs better than mossy patches. Theres no (or very little) food for them in mossy forest bogs. Maybe mosquitos, but very little bees, ants, beetles,... which are parts of their diet.
