STOWAWAY Rifles 5.7 are in stock and ready to ship

Is the trigger removable? Could someone work on it, or get a gunsmith to work on it?
I haven’t looked at it in a couple weeks but there may be action screws to separate the lower/trigger group. I’l have to give it a look and see if it’s serviceable. Be nice to smooth out the mechanical sponge feeling.

9mm rifles with 16" barrels have arrived in Montreal just waiting to clear customs.
Bad new is we will pay tariffs on these guys, so we can expect the price to be higher than the 5.7

Short barrels are coming very soon, 9mm and 5.7
Can’t find it immediately on the DM manufacturer website but are the 9mms you are bringing in good to shoot +P?

It is highly doubtful that the manual charging will change to ####-on-opening or closing any time soon. The requirement to manually charge the Stowaway is an inherent safety aspect of the rifle, requiring a deliberate action immediately prior to firing. Given its lack of a magazine and single-round feed, the Stowaway is not intended to be a rapid-fire repeater.
Never thought it to be "fast firing".

I personally endorse the action by taking out young hunters.

You set the target, get ready to load, following the target

But it's not for everyone..

I'm definitely interested if you can get the short 9mm barrels in; I'd be most interested in a complete 9mm gun, as I definitely won't be adding 5.7 to my calibre collection. I see they offer them with picatinny stock adapters now, too... That would be an awesome configuration. :)

If it can shoot 5.7 then I would have to say yes. 5.7 is quite a bit more pressure compared to 9mm +P
That sounds good. For those of us who can’t get cool RPAL handguns anymore… this shorty 9mm could be a sad cope. Wonder if it’ll do factory +P+. Only one shot so might as well make it as accurate, long range and cool as you can.

Of course if they end up creating a .44 mag offering that would fit the ye old “one shot pirate handcannon” theme better.

The 9mm will be in stock this week, just waiting on the final broker fees and tariffs.

I am waiting for an answer from DM but I think +P 9mm should be safe to fire.

Short barrels are coming soon, we will not be bringing in the rifles with picatinny stock adapters as it could make them restricted.

How close in price is the pre tariff 5.7 with 9mm conversion compared to just the tariff hit 9mm??
Tariffs on firearms from the USA are 25%. I expect the retail to follow suit, which would put the 9mm rifles at ~750$.

Will you be selling the complete rifle in the 5” barrel configuration or just the barrel separately?
Rifles will only be sold with 16" barrels. Short barrel conversion kits will be sold separately.

I expect the 9mm rifles to retail ~750$. first batch of 5.7 rifles are currently 600$. Conversion barrels and bolt SHOULD be ~350$

It should be noted that, unless the tariffs are removed, the next batch of 5.7 rifles will also have the price increase.

Hey MARSTAR,

I understand you not wanting to bring in the rifles with the Picatinny Adapter, but how about just bringing in the Adapter itself? Selling it as an indvidual part would put the onus squarely on the buyer/owner to not do something stupid and make their firearm restricted/illegal. What say you?

I'm in for a 9mm short-barrel conversion kit as soon as you get them in stock....

Do they use an adaptor? Or is it actually a different receiver with integral short vertical pic rail section at the back?

I'm reading a lot about the 5.7 and having a hard time justifying why I would want one, as opposed to a simple .22Magnum. More expensive ammo, only slight velocity increases in rifle-length barrels...aside from just playing with something new, what is the appeal here?

It is a removable Picatinny Adaptor that provides the user with a short vertical 1913 Rail for attaching various Buttstocks to.

The appeal is a rifle, firing a mini rifle cartridge, that breaks down and looks like the assassin's weapon from the original "Day of The Jackal" movie with Edward Fox as the protagonist.

The added appeal (to me), is that I already have other firearms chambered in the same cartridge. Seeing as how I already stock 5.7x28mm for my FN PS90 PDW and it's companion Pistol the FN Five-Nine, the chambering is no big deal.

Further appeal comes from the fact that relatively inexpensive to reload 9mm conversion kits are inbound.

I just started playing with handloads in mine, most of the factory ammo offerings (atleast available up here) aren't that interesting, however with handloads it gets a fair bit spicier.

Ya I bought a good amount of the Hornady VMax 40 gr. Projectiles and few lbs of Accurate #7. Loading them into the Federal AE brass. A lot nicer than the FMJ’s that are available.

I could have sworn I saw a YouTube vid that seemed to imply there were two receivers, one with the permanently attached butt stock we get, and another that had an integral pic rail for options. If it can be changed, that's a big plus. Between our incomprehensible gun laws, and the US laws surrounding SBR's, I'm never sure what can or cannot be imported or exported or sold or...?????

And incidentally, I wasn't questioning the appeal of the gun; I like the little guy. It was the cartridge that I was questioning. On paper a .22mag seems to offer almost as much of what most buyers will want, cheaper and more conveniently.

The cartridge seems to be marketed to folks considering it for personal/home defense...although a single shot firearm ain't my ideal for that use. But I'm a Canadian; I'm pretty sure I can get thrown in jail for even suggesting I might want to use a gun for self-defense. This gun would be, for me and most Canucks, a toy. I'm looking at it as a compact backyard varmint/pest gun...and in that role, I can't help but think I might be better served by the .22mag.

When you already have guns that shoot this cartridge, it makes perfect sense to have this one as well. But I suspect that the percentage of Canadian shooters who are already using the 5.7 in another firearm is microscopically small. I wish they would have made the first production run in 9mm, or...much better still IMHO....357 or .44mag or almost any other cartridge that already sees more use in Canada.

That's more like it, and much more in line with what I can see myself doing with this rifle. If it can be loaded up towards .22Hornet range or even higher, its appeal increases dramatically. :) I hope you post up some results of your experiments. :)
