The M1 Garand Build Thread

No worries, I’m more interested in “tanker” style conversions. Make the Garand as short as legally possible, but still reliable. I’ve got the BM59 parts (minus tricolour) for it and I understand that a Garand barrel can be used with a little work.

It’s still a neat conversion. I saw your bumped thread, very cool.
There is a member on here who builds garands including tanker garand conversions. He's a CF weapons tech. He did a damn fine job with my Breda receiver build. 19" criterion 308 barrel, USGI parts. He's in Latvia right now for another few weeks. Maybe when he comes back he can build ya one. Charged around $750 for the conversion, reasonable considering the work that goes into doing one.

Can you please PM me his contact info ?. I have a Garand receiver I would like to be made into a Tanker style.

is there a thread anywhere detailing the steps to build one of these ?
Was gonna list all my remaining M1/M14/M305 parts in the EE but maybe I can assemble one of these rifles instead hehe
Here’s Grizzlypeg’s build: https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/threads/m14s-barrel-fits-onto-a-garand-receiver.2244956/

😂 Going back through it just now I can see that you commented on it a few times. Tiriaq has some good info as well, but I don’t think we saw his final result.

If anyone can you can T.
it does look fairly straight forward but i don't have access to a lathe right now for oprod modifications.
Also would need to aquire some parts so I listed some stuff that I don't need.
I would prefer to build a tanker version with the shorter barrel though.
We'll see...... got a guy coming over to maybe buy my 19ft four winns so that will certainly free up some play money for a project..... LOL
Also planning to leave the country in the next couple years so I'll have to really ponder this idea

I'm interested in getting myself a Garand. Is it worth buying all the individual parts, or should I just get a pre-built rifle?
Without the proper tools it would not be an easy task to build one.

Member here 'purple' has built many excellent shooting Garand's. Not sure if he is still building them. I do run across him at gun shows in the Interior.

Contact Garand Daddy on Gun P*st aka L.Parratt on CGN.

I have been talking with him, and I might buy one from him. He's fairly active within CFE as well.

It's probably better for me just to get one that's already been built. I talked to purple as well, he told me that he'll be attending the March HASCBC show in the new year, so that is also an option. I did pickup a six en-bloc clips at the last show, there's bound to be more cool stuff next year.

Thanks again for the help, folks.

I highly recommend Logan. He's built 3 or 4 Garands for me with more on the way.

I'm in Chilliwack too btw. The CFGPA runs service rifle matches 3 times a year and the Garands also perform well.

Ah, so you are the guy who gets them from Garand Daddy. I was talking with him yesterday about how he's shipping a few more down here.

I plan to get a range membership in the new year. How often do you frequent the range?
