I miss SIR catalogues from my youth.
That is what it says in the small print at the bottom of the ad.Those might have been the Portuguese contract imports that came in essentially unissued.
What happens when you buy things on the internet without pictures? You end up taking the seller's word on it. I bought what was advertised as a k98 bayonet (luckily for cheap) and what showed up wasn't a k98 bayonet. It's clearly a Mauser bayonet of sorts, but with no markings, I'm not sure what it is supposed to be for. Anyone know what I actually received?

Belgian FN M1924 long bayonet
Sword bayonet for use with M1924 and M1930 Short Mauser Rifles produced by FN for export.
Also fits the 1950 Columbian Mauser CarbineThanks R005t3r, now I know what I need to watch the EE for so that the bayonet purchase doesn't go to waste
I have a Mil tech K98 which based on the receiver code was produced at Gustloff Works in 1940. The stock is blonde, and they parkerized all the metal including the barrel. I took a lot of crap over it from some of the collectors on gunboards but I only paid $300 not $1695, and it’s a great shooter with no collector value. Looks exactly like the rifle in the ad below. Happy to have it.As a James River rifles fan, i respect the members choice but i have a German K98 JRA with my name on it and i'll be proud to shoot it at the range... JP.
Very niceMatching Port, 1941 manufactured. Flat butt plate with Heer ownership stamps. Detailed pics here:

Oh and I love the ones you gents have posted above. Andrew you should be proud of that collection!
How nice for you!I have two Israeli FN 98K sniper rifles
This one appears to be a war time rebuild . Prewar dated with two different styles of eagles. Nice one.HI guys !!!
I'm very happy that someone start a thread about Mauser rifles because to my personal view if you a choice to have one rifle in your life for me it would be a K98.
I just love all the history behind it and that's why in 2012 when I start collecting and shooting rifles The first thing I bought is the book MAUSER MILITARY RIFLES OF THE WORLD. by Robert W.D. Ball.
So there she is my one and only for you all to see she's a K98 mauser 243 Mauser-Werke Borsigwalde she's not a RC mostly matching suspected rebuild/capture-1938.
A very interseting piece mostly matching although there are signs that parts were forced match, EX: stock is matching, barrel JK/HK with CZech lion on new barrel. All the dirty birds are intact and the stock as a nice tiger stripes finish in some parts.
No purple soviet bluing anywhere, I wounder if this was a rebuilt post war what's your toughts about it.
Enjoy !!!
Thank you very much for your input I realy appreciate it now I know what I have in my hand. This one appears to be a war time rebuild . Prewar dated with two different styles of eagles. Nice one.
yes, but still ugly and ratty compared to literally any other K98k import that ever came here. I remember when the east german refurbs came in... now those were nice.Who here remembers when the RC Mausers flooded the Canadian market 15 or so years ago, and many CGNers said they weren't worth the $300 asking price because "they'll never be collectible"? They certainly are collectible, and worth many times more than $300 today.
