Ok - so I've gone through a bunch of threads and even the guys (there are so few) that own them haven't spoken up. So I have a few questions without it getting lost in Dekards many posts:D.

1) Reliability - are they reliable?

2) Accuracy - has anyone tested them?

3) and since I'm asking - cause I couldn't tell from the photos - does the shorty (Type 97a) have the same three position gas regulating system?

opinions welcome:dancingbanana:

Ok - I PM'd NEMo (great guy by the way) and he was kind enough to answer my questions so here goes:

1) Reliability - are they reliable? He has about 100 rounds through his and his friend has around 600 through his - No FTF or ejection issues.

2) Accuracy - has anyone tested them? He's fired it at 50 yards and he says it's OK..

3) does the shorty (Type 97a) have the same three position gas regulating system? Yes it certainly does.

And I also asked him if it was worth the price currently at Lever. He said Yes for a bullpup in canada yes!

He did say that he was getting some gas in his face but that he had it modified and it is OK now. I've asked for some clarification as I'm not sure how this is possible - perhaps from the piston under the handguard???

Anyway that's what we know so far.....

Clobber, can you ask your friend how it spits the brass out?

I'm a lefty and I've handled both the Type 97's at lever, only reason I did not get it is because I don't know if I'll get shot in the face with brass.

At the risk of getting a snotagram, I'm a lefty and I posted a picture of ejection in the first thread. It will need a shell deflector mod, but not much of one.

Dekard never met a thred about a type 97 he didn't like!!

On a serious note - if the gas problem is an issue it might be a real issue for lefty's - although the deflector might limit that. If you are thinking of the one made for the 10/22 bullpup it may work, but with a gas piston system I bet this thing ejects the brass pretty smartly - it will probably have to be reinforced - a sheet metal insert on the inside to limit damage to the plastic maybe?

Also - here's a link to a stanag to picatinny mount:

Just take out the underscores in the HTTP.
