Keep it quiet....

So I shoot rodents in the backyard but I use the "quiet" CCi both segemented and target. But they are all so inconsistent or it could be me I guess. I can pop 10 in a row and then the next day miss miss. Is there something other people are using that are better. I could use the .410 but the neighbors may have a problem with that lol.

Thanks :)

Well, I wouldn't be switching guns or barrel lengths with such slow ammo. CCI "CB-Long" used to be the only "quiet" offering and I found that to be OK out to a certain distance. I think I might be more inclined to tell my neighbors that I'm dealing with rodents when I'm seeing them, and that it might very well benefit them too...but they'll hear a little "bang" from time to time.

But, I do know neighbors can be hard to deal with even when you're well-intended. Even out in the country.

I found the same thing with the CCI quiet , which was disappointing as I love CCI ammo. I ended up trying the Remington C-Bee 740 fps and they were way more consistent out of my gun, which was surprising because I have never liked or had good like with Remington ammo, but the C-Bee's were the ticket out of my gun.

Add me to the list of people who had unsatisfactory results from quiets... wanted them for popping grouse without ear pro but accuracy and killing power were both lacking.

I just use cci standard these days, but I'm not dealing with neighbors who might complain.

Aquilla 590fps
We are entering the air rifle realm. Colibri are only 20 gr projectiles and sent with no powder but just the primer and under 500 fps so not what Id classify as deadly but close range and well placed shots will get the job done and not alarm the hood. The Super Colibri is designed for exactly what Looks speaking. This round is also sent on its way with just priming compound and no powder charge. My experience with Aguilla ammo has not made me a fan and Ive never had anything they made shoot well. Maybe just bad lots but im thinkin just buy cci standard and call it a day.

what are the pests... any subsonic 22 ammo is way quieter than a 410,

and remington does make a 410 quiet. i tried it, its louder than subsonic 22 and only shoots #9 shot at 650fps so not the most deadly round at the $1.25+/shot

I use cci subsonic HP

CB longs are my preferred ones as well. Accurate enough for sure.
I found that slower than 700 is quieter but the noise hits before the round, leaving the target with a chance to flinch, duck, weave and bob.

I don't use any quite ammo but have been using Winchester 333 for rodents in my area for years now. They work well out of my CZ 28" barrel and iron sights. I have also used my 410 with #8 shot from time to time when I have to take care of running shots. My neighbours are 1/2 mile away so noise is not an issue. I also like to keep my grass short for rodent shooting.
