Cleaning off packing "oil" from a new Norinco

Arcosdad - I used brake cleaner on mine. Works fast, no issues with the plastic...or metal. Yes, use in a well ventilated area. Honestly I really like the JW15 synthetic stock. It's very rigid and has built-in bedding at the front lug.

I would be curious to know where they get the packing oil from too. We can be confident that it is perfectly safe for our long term health, fortunately cost cutting is never an issue with Chinese products. ;)

Why not a pressure washer?

Seriously though dish soap will work but a big jug of concentrated Simple Green is pretty cheap and will work better.... with the pressure washer!

:)

24 opinions, pick one. But pick one that gets into small crevasses. Nothing like a gummed up firing pin to spoil a day.
My humble opinion.

The metal I'm not concerned with...I hit it with a naptha bath which just disolves everything! Will definitely give the bolt extra attention though... good point. This is assuming that the bolt will actually go into the rifle which was my problem with the last one!

Dishwasher? I would not care to eat off dishes after one had been used on some strange Chinese chemical product, nor is it exactly necessary.

It's a long time running comment based on a guy that posted about cleaning the comi-cosmo off his new M305 back in the day.... his gun ended up rusty and he was sleeping in the dog house from what I recall,,,,,, :)

And all this time I thought those posts were serious. I've read about stranger practices here, lol.

A customer told me he would throw new ska’s in a black garbage bag with a bunch of saw dust and leave it in the sun for hours and let it sweat out all the cosmoline into the sawdust. Said it did a good job. I have never tried.

Wait, You are talking about Varsol paint thinner/cleaner, Jeez. People, you must be wearing mask while cleaning your rifles.
I think that is a generational thing. After years of riding in the back seat of a sealed car for six hours with two chain smokers in the front seat we take a different view of some risks. I use those products everyday cleaning my rifle and paint brushes ... but you don't have to.

How does one clean used Transformer Oil?
Most used diapers have a surprising amount of unused potential absorption still available..... I'd start there just to keep a lower carbon footprint and try to double the amount of re-use.

Once safely contained by the modern diaper technology you can just toss it in with the regular trash.
